What could we realistically get for Williams?

I honestly think a 4th is the best we could do. He has 6 years experience, but because of the way he's been used throughout his tenure in Carolina, he doesn't have much tread on the tires (he was only really a workhorse back in '08). But that contract is going to turn some people off.

The Packers would probably be an unstoppable offense with him though.

No one, in the end we will cut him or he will run his contract. If I was a gm in the NFL why would I trade for RB who is clearly on the way out the door? That's assuming your team even wants the cap number he holds. At this point in the season if I'm a GM looking for an RB as a stop gap to fill the hole this season why go after one of the highest paid RB's in the league? It's not like a team is going to build around DWill, hes 29 going on 30. Clearly you would go after the young fresh legs that you can get for like 575k or whatever the league minimum currently is. I love Dwill, fug i even have his jersey but like lets be serious, there's a salary cap in the NFL and these Madden trades don't happen. If by some miracle we get something for him it will be way less than invested; probably a blocking sled and some pylons.

Again, the problem isn't what we could get for him, or Beason for that matter. Any team making a trade assumes his salary or a renegotiated salary. That isn't the hangup. The hangup is we may not be in a position to absorb the accelerated bonus that hits our books.

So say we trade DWill this year before the deadline. The new team takes his salary that averages $5.7 million a year over the next 3 years. This does not relieve us of our responsibility for the uncharged portion of the contract's original signing bonus ($9.6 million). That is what we're stuck with, and we'd have to take the whole hit this year.

It is better to wait till March when we can spread it out over 2 years. I do think both DWill and Beason should probably be cut or traded at that point. This team has to start getting out from under some of these ridiculous contracts, and we should do it as soon as possible.

Whether it be before this years trade deadline, or during the offseason, Williams will probably be traded. The question is what is he worth at this point in his career?

Denver or San Diego seem like no brainers as far as trade partners go.

Absolutely nothing. Nobody will want any part of that contract.

    • Just looked up that he went to Washington. Damn, besides a deep playoff run last year, they are basically the opposite of what the Buffalo Bills are to us. Taking the worst former Panthers
    • Starting to wonder how many people here have been on functioning teams in any capacity whether it be in sports, at work, or in their own home... Like, yea, my supervisor is who I report to but I got on-the-job training from my teammates. I'd go to my boss and get direction when I had questions, but I also went to my teammates first with those questions. Not having the consistency of AT in the locker room is a negative that the team seems to be hoping to offset with the positives that are the increase opportunities for their young WRs. This is also good for Bryce, because it's going to challenge him to elevate + lead those guys, while also bad because he loses his most reliable target from the last two seasons. The move happened. Now we're in "hurry up and wait" mode to see what the results will end up being over the course of the season.
    • Conked out during the 1st quarter of the Cinci game. Seeing Boise State get belt-to-ass + the ECU/NC St (and the 60hr work week I've had) took a lot out of me. I am not ready for the feels I'm going to experience on Saturday during Corso's last show. 😭😭
