connor or diggs as the starter

Recommended Posts

connor was a special teams standout in 2008 and he'll do the same this year... but that LB spot is Diggs' for the keeping, unless something very unexpected happens in TC.

:confused5:

Dan played in 3 games last year and had 4 tackles.

torn acl in the 3rd week. not really time enough to be a stand out.

Connor isn't the type of linebacker to knock someone out on a play. He plays very conservative in terms of tackling and is fundamentally sound which could be looked at in two different perspectives. It could be good to be a conservative straight wrap up tackler but he won't make the big plays and blow someone up to cause a fumble. He has good form though and comes from the linebacker U so I think it's safe to say that he won't miss any tackles once he has someone squared up.

connor has yet to show anything, and diggs is very under appriciated

I don't feel like connor fits here but hopefully I am wrong.

I don't think he has enough athetism to play in a 3-4 and I don't know how effective he will be in a Tampa 2. The Tampa 2 requires the MLB to drop in deep coverage and I would probably take Diggs to play shallow coverage over Connor.

Whoever proves to the coaches that they are the better player for the position. I say that will be Diggs, based on experience and better coverage skills. This might be a moot point anyway, because the coaches might not give Connor a look at OLB.

Diggs is a very solid player. He's not a big impact player but he's certainly not a weak link either.

I still don't understand everyone's obsession of trying to find someone to start in place of Diggs. The man has been nothing but solid since he's been here.

i think it has more to do with the fact connor was a steal in the draft and people just want to see him on the field

    • After watching Dan for 3 yrs now, I think I understand his plan. It’s a simple plan that should work for the long run.     I saw some of this last yr. Dan wants a vet and a young player at each position. I really think we go OT if one they like there. Moton is aging, Icky will not be back until 27, if ever. We need to get ahead of the tackle problem
    • You are just stressing too much about these particular positions. You want to upgrade from Bryce and I understand that but you aren’t going to really get that without getting into a bidding war for a QB2 potential QB1 like Willis. You could possibly trade for Mills or the backup for Chicago but they are still gambles and their teams will won’t decent picks.  Again the Eagles thought KP was a capable enough backup to trade for him once their backup was hurt and won a Super Bowl with him as QB2. The point is most teams aren’t rolling with some stud QB2/3 that is going to push even a bottom tier starter. They are better off the building their roster in other areas. The Rams are rolling with Bennett right now as QB2 for example.  The goal is winning absolutely. We overachieved last year even with stumbling into the playoffs. Another year and this staff needs to take the next step in building a team. Will Grier has little to no impact on that….
    • Three straight first round WRs is straight up Matt Millen poo. Considering the draft capital we have tied up on Bryce after that trade we would basically have spent damn near all of our draft capital in recent years on QB and WR just to put one of the most anemic passing offenses in the league on the field. Clown show poo.
