To me it really depends on what he thinks he's got left in the tank. If he only wants to play another year I'd get a deal done that would send him to a Super Bowl contender so he can win a ring. As much as it would suck to lose one of my favorite players, I'd love to see him win a ring and as of this moment we aren't looking so good.
