As we all know they will announce the lottery tomorrow night for 500mil but after taxes you will only get about half that 250mil.What would you do with your money?

I would buy my mom and dad a house and 2 cars.

I would buy me and my girl a house and 2 cars.

I would buy my sister a house and a car.

I would give all my family members a good amount of money.

I would invest in real-estate

Put the rest in the bank

i would still go to work. very late of course. then show up in shorts and flip flops or maybe even bunny slippers. barge into a giant important meeting and mock the speaker.

then maybe ask questions they can't answer and get some james brown played over the intercom system.

take a ton of random people from work out for drinks. i mean the possibilities are endless.

I would give the first 50 mil away to a couple of charities and foundations that I've worked with in the past. Then I'd take the next 50 and set up an investment endowment to continue some charity work. The next 20 would be divided amongst friends, family, and my local community via some different disbursement vehicles. The next 70 would become my own personal investment designed to live only off of the interest. The next 20 would be earmarked for future family stuff (business venture, take myself back to school, etc.). Another 20 would be set aside for my kids' expenses and inheritance. 10 would be a buffer for everyday living, and the last 10 would be for spending however we want, whenever we want.

And I'd do some stuff like Pstall. That would be fun.

I sure as fug wouldn't be sitting bleary-eyed in front of a computer at 8AM. I like my job, but I'd quit politely and immediately.

I'd help immediate family where needed/wanted.

I'd donate a ton to charities, particularly on the local level.

I'd set up the rest in a way so that I'm safe for the rest of my life. Kids would have accounts set up so they are safe as well, but they'd have to show responsibility and earn every penny. This part would be out of my control so any whining/begging would be pointless.

After extensive travel I'd eventually go to work for a local charity or non-profit. Something to make the place I live better.

I'd live in a very nice but modest home from the outside, but inside would be every conceivable highest-end audio and video product known to mankind.

Yes, we bought tickets yesterday. :)

    • Good thought and I agree.  Nothing about this process compromises that premise. In fact, the process involves meeting more needs so you can do that.  If I can get an Edge on a rookie contract when my biggest need is LB, then I have enough $$ saved on the overall cap to get an elite rookie edge in the draft and sign a veteran LB in free agency. If I draft the LB first, my biggest need, then my savings against the cap (when looking at the 53-man roster) is minimal.  I have not saved enough $$ to sign the edge in free agency, so I have to try to draft the edge later, getting a lesser player.  Even if you draft an edge and the roster is full of them, you have trade capital because a lot of teams need a good edge.  This lends credence to the BPA theory if it is aligned with positions that are expensive on second contracts. In the cap era, you have to think it through-it is like a puzzle.   That is why I did not like it when Marty was drafting RBs (Willliams and Stewart) in the first round.  If you recall, that necessitated moving up for Otah, trading away next year's first rounder to do so.  That is the draft we really needed an edge, but since we did not have a first rounder, we took Everette Brown to fill that need.  Then it got worse.  We had 2 RBs on second contracts, Brown busted, that led to drafting Clausen, etc.  If you can get 2 starters for the price of one, that is what I would call smart--not overthinking, if I understand you.  I do agree, but that does not mean draft your trench players first.   It could mean draft an edge and use the cap savings to sign a trench player.
    • The DLine needs to do its job too - currently I only trust Brown to do that.
