If our Players have not given up on the Coaching Staff... should we?

Win or loss, this staff made a statement to me today. Rivera even seemed a little bit different. Like he was coaching with nothing else to lose. Cam was just loading up the highlight reel. Defense took advantage of a flat ATL offense early, made some big time plays, and helped us jump out to an early lead.

Normally we would just start playing as if we needed to secure the win. Today, we were able to make the plays we needed to put the game away.

All that said, we still gave up almost 300 passing yards to Ryan in the second, and we left probably left 8-13 points on the board missing on some of the easy ones.

I honestly wouldn't hate seeing him back. Especially if he can coach every Sunday like he did today.

If this was our last game of the season I think we'd all be worried here, but there's 3 more games left for the staff to prove something. They have to go 2-1 at the least to even be considered for retention. Chargers and Saints...they'll need to smoke em'

The issue with the coaching staff is that they though they had it all planned. They just KNEW that them losing was just a lack of execution, or players "not making plays". While certainly there were plays left on the field by the players, the OVERWHELMING reason that we sucked so hard was poor coaching. This ranged from poor clock management to play calling and overall scheme ineptitude.

It took until we were virtually eliminated from playoff contention before they went "You know what guys! This poo just isn't working" and decided to pull their collective heads from their asses.

That alone should get them fired.

But then again, maybe they learn from this and grow as coaches - the realize that coaching can not be inflexible, and have to continuously adjust. It's for this reason that I won't be devastated if they are retained. It's just that I don't think that they should be.

Hell, this year it took the GM getting fired for them to shake things up. Until then we stuck to the plan come Hell or high water and looked like we didn't even belong in the league for a couple of games because of it.

I think the reluctance for some people comes from the fact that Rivera genuinely seems like a great guy. I really like him. I don't think much of him as a HC, but I really like him personally.

Anyways, they truly seem to be the Matt Moore of coaching staffs. Pretty good once it doesn't really matter any more.

I'm thinking the same thing too that why are these players still playing hard if they doesn't want this coaching staffs here next season. Though they could just be playing for themselves. And I really still want Rivera gone.

You think Smitty wouldnt be playing this hard under a George Siefert? He still would bc he and these players don't quit! We're not the Cardinals for gods sake! Thank goodness

Coaches get fired when they play like the Cardinals are right now, or the Bucs last year. Just plain ole getting destroyed and quitting. Just having a new GM that isn't ole school Foxball philosophy is going to be a great change going into next year.

This is where I hope Accorsi and JR bring in a GM that can figure out the answer to this question! It may be a case of Ron needing to surround himself with a better staff! I'm not quite ready to give up on RR even tho him leaving will not hurt my feelings! If we go 7-9 the RR is delivering what he promised in the "little brother" analogy! Before anything goes any further, I want a GM that can get to the root of the problem
