Finding a Dirt Cheap Daily Driving Car

The Saltman

Recommended Posts

I'm looking into buy a beater for maximum $2500.

Im trying to keep the miles off of my car right now so I need something that wont blow up on me but will prob be old with lots of miles.

What would be my best bet? Honda? Nissan altima/maxima??

And where should I look?? Craigslist??

Any of you guys want to sell me your beaters? ;)

get a mid-late 90's Toyota Celica

most came with the almost bulletproof 1.8 liter 4 banger. Great on gas, super durable, easy to work on, and if you get the hatchback model you can haul a ton of poo.

Corolla's of that time period had the same drivetrain, but are less fun to drive.

those celicas have the same motor as my corolla, only with dual exhaust and an overhead cam

you can blast them full of sand and still drive them another 10k miles

Yeah, Honda/Toyota are your best bets. They hold their value because they're so reliable and durable.

I would try to avoid getting anything off rot lots though... I worked at a dealership and they sold those used lots their cars because either something was wrong with them to begin with, or they had too many miles for the to resell on the dealership lot aka no value. I'd look into a private seller OR try getting one at an auction.

    • I didn't move the goal posts. But anyone who follows football who wants to engage in a rational discussion can't argue that 10 7th round picks are equal to 10 1st rounders in value. The argument has always been we haven't spent as much on defense has we have on offense. Draft picks have value just like salary. We have not spent the same amount of draft pick salary cap on defense that we have on offense since drafting Bryce. It's not even close. Just the 2 1sts we used on Bryce, 2 overall 1sts have a value of 6000. That doesn’t even factor in DJ Moore or the 2 2nds. Bryce cost more than everything we've spent on defense in 6 damn years.
    • We need to hope this scenario plays our next week he fails with pressure…what that means with Evero, is beyond me
    • Woukd be a great addition You know the issues from my prespective, 2 things the Panthers must do 1. Edge or pass rushers or 2 oline or 3 oline or as Andy Reid says, when in doubt, draft a lineman it is time   That oline is troubling plus a small person at QB  they   1. Can do a lot better than mayes at center, 2. and lewis has had injuries all season. 3. Moton should not have  been resigned long term, 4. corbett is a shadow and will probably be released  5 and Christianson coming off Achilles   6 and the kicker, would be Ickey’s contract if they decide to keep him INMO rookie and contracts will be needed to offset all that
