For those that want Chip Kelly here, this part is very interesting.

If there's a big-name coaching candidate to keep in mind in Carolina, Oregon's Chip Kelly is a possibility. The thought of Kelly matching his up-tempo offense to franchise quarterback Cam Newton's game is an intriguing notion. But Kelly is said to be only interested in an NFL job that comes with near-total personnel control, so he would seem a possibility only if the Panthers stay in-house with their GM opening and elevate Beane.

I dont want Kelly, too much gimmick. I do think he will end up being the coach if RR isn't retained and I could see them firing beane or removing him from GM role and allowing full control to Kelly from the get go. Remember, Jerry Richardson didn't operate with a GM before Hurney was promoted to the position. We might not have a "GM" by title, it would be Kelly. I think that much control is something you earn and something few coaches can fully handle in the NFL. Butch Davis was a great coach in Cleveland until he was given full control.

JR will never give up that much power. I really like Chip Kelly and I think he will be a great coach at the next level but the Eagles is probably the only team that will do something like this. Chip Kelly can forget the Panthers if he wants total control.

Pete Carroll pretty much has full control in Seattle with him being the HC and VP of Football operations for the Seahawks. Yes, they have a GM but it's Carroll's show in Seattle and he calls the shots for the most part.

If the Rumors about the Panthers being super interested in Kelly are true, then the Beane staying the GM of Carolina rumor that Yas started the other week has some legs to it actually.

Those are pretty big If's though.

I dont know. We all said he would never fire Hurney, I get a feeling JR is willing to go way outside the box this off season and shake things up

You all talk about these people like you know them personally, and know what they are thinking. We very well could flip the script and give Kelly the control he supposedly wants. It depends on how badly JR wants Kelly

...and none of us know that.

JR has given full control to Coaches before, Dom Capers had Full Control of Carolina in his last two seasons, As well as Seifert when he was in Carolina. Only after both of those disasters did JR hire a GM again. So he's given up the full control before and it didn't really work out in either case. So i'd believe he'd be a bit hesitant to go that route again, but maybe he thinks it's time to shake things up....

A darkhorse candidate to think about (Depends if Ross is hired as GM) might be OC Mike Sullivan of the Bucs. Reason is that he is well liked by players and his offense could fit Cam's style. On top of that, he is a QB guru and helped developed Eli. The most intriguing part is his connection with Marc Ross as Sullivan was a part of the Giants staff through most of Coughlin's tenue.

I am also intrigued by Gus Bradley, DC of the Seahawks. Monte Kiffin has been very high on this guy and has even gone so far to say that he is a future HC. I could see him being a combo of Cowher/Gruden lite vocally.

I guess it will be a wait and see matter.
