The next big thing in TVs is here...

OLED, or organic light emitting diode, TVs are finally shipping next month. I have heard about them for a few years, but none have been commercially available. I recall watching a plug for these where the display was reolled up & put away -a flexible TV?? I doubt LG is going that far, but you can preorder yours today, from Korea, for a mere 11 million won, or about $10k. 55in on the diagonal, 4mm (.16in) on the depth. Yes, less than a quarter of an inch thick. Supposed to be extremely vibrant color, and the press release says infinite contrast ratio, The human eye can only see 800:1, and TV manufacturers have been boasting greater than that for years, so may as well go with infinite to be bigger & better than everybody else....

LG's PR......

How do they get speakers plus inputs on a TV that is 4mm thin? An HDMI plug is thicker than that. I saw a really small Sony OLED TV a few years ago, about 12" but an amazing picture, incredibly deep blacks and really vivid colors. Maybe in 5-7 years when my 60" plasma dies I may be able to afford one.

I own an HDDVD, bought it after BluRay won. It had the best upscaling available at the time...

There are already TVs available with 4k resolution, with HD being half of that at 1920x1080. Been available commercially for a while, theyre now hitting for the consumers....

    • Any idea what happened to him at LSU? im reading that he was considered a 1st round pick in 2023, had an off 2024 season with only 4 sacks but was also on a horrible FSU team then went to LSU where he was supposed to be on an aggressive defense that should have given him a lot of sacks but he only ended up with one….   was he injured? Did the top SEC competition expose him? What happened? Cause this guy was considered a top prospect .
    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
