Chud to interview with the Browns?

I've always thought Chud is a really good play architect/schemer...but lacks the ability to feel the flow of a game and properly call one from beginning to end.

I think the one's that can are few and far between and why people would think Norv Turner would be the answer to that is beyond me because he hasn't been good at that for two decades.

Don't think he'd take Clausen (Jimmy belongs on a WCO team).

Anderson's an interesting question though. I forget if he's a free agent.

Also gotta wonder if he'd want to trade for one of our runningbacks.

If he went to Cleveland, I doubt he would trade for one of our RB's.....they have Richardson.

How about for 60% of the game? Not go balls to the wall when you need to eat the clock, and vice versa.

And run the goddamn stupid ass wildcat with DeAngelo. I hope I never see that crap again. Doesn't fool anyboddy.

Here's why...starting with game 1 this year, Chud rolled out an offense very much different from what we ran the year prior. Far fewer 2 TE sets, a greater reliance on the read option, and almost no commitment to the running game. The result was a disaster. Now all of that is fine if you make the necessary changes in week 3 or 4, but that isn't what happened. Chud stuck to the same game plan until Hurney got fired and presumably was given orders by Rivera/JR to make the necessary changes. Suddenly, our offense began to click because we had a greater commitment to the run, we gave Newton more protection and used more 2 TE sets again, and ran more under center plays.

We feel that Chud's stubborn resistance to change something that clearly wasn't working is what cost us the playoffs. Had we started the year with much the same game plan as last year or made the necessary adjustments in a timely manner, most of us feel the results would have been far different. So we blame Chud, and by extension, Rivera (for not reeling Chud in sooner).

this.

point blank, he tried to fix what didn't need fix and ended up making it something that needed fixed and took way too long to fix it. this was on him and rivera. if the players can't execute what you want to do, do something else that they can execute. it's not that difficult if you're more interested in winning than proving you can come up with innovative schemes.

and the offense was a huge part in us not getting to the playoffs this year. they just flat didn't get enough points on the board. they were pathetic in that regard for most of the season. the defense struggled, esp. late, but the offense didn't give the cushion the defense should have had. there's no reason that this offense shouldn't be able to put up 25+ points per game and we weren't.

I added something to my earlier post....why the Hell would people think Norv Turner is the answer to consistant play calling and adjusting to the flow of a game? He hasn't shown anything that he can do that in 20 years. He certainly can't sustain anything for an entire season. He may be the king of inconsistancy.

who would the "powers that be" be? hurney? rivera? JR?

Totally understandable and very well stated, but how do you know he wasn't told to "stick with it" and find a way to make it work until the powers that be realized it wasn't going to work and gave him the ok to move on from it. I am not saying that was the case and your scenario is more plausible but the other is certainly possible.

Whatever the reason was, whether it was his stubborness to change and admit it was not working or something else, changes were made and it started working just as it did last year. I can totally understand why some people dislike Chud for contributing to such a bad start but when 95% + of the people on here are praying that he leaves, I find that baffling. I think Chud leaving would be a step backward to the progress they were making.

Good chance they're losing Josh Cribbs though.

If he wanted a two-back system like he had here last season, trading for one of our guys would make sense.

(all of which is moot if he doesn't get the job, of course)

Unless he acts as a big picture guy and lets his coordinators call the plays. I know nothing of his personality, but he could potentially be a good coach.

i would think he'd be the guy calling the plays since most of the hype surrounding him has to do with him being some kind of offensive genius.

Dear Lord,

I know I haven't always been a good man. Many times, I've been tempted by flesh and liquor, and I sometimes covet my neighbor's belongings, but there is still time for me to change. Please lord, use your almighty influence and make the Browns hire the Chudder, and I promise to be a better man. No more internet porn. I'll start being honest when the cashier gives me back too much change, and I will no longer make snide comments about PantherTrain posts. Just do this one little thing and I will walk the straight and narrow from here on out.

Your servant,

Marguide

Careful, God keeps tabs.

    • Not drafting one doesn't mean we are necessarily happy.  Could just mean there was no one we really liked.  Or that there were other players we liked more.
    • Guys weren’t exactly beating the doors down to coach here. We’ve got nothing to lose with Canales, I guess. It could have been worse. My concern is that Tepper sees a young guy he can push around.  I will say that I have been VERY impressed with Morgan,  and that probably means more than a good coach when it all goes down
