How long do we give Gettlemen to turn things around?

It's been a really long time since this fan base has had to deal with a new General Manager and a new way of doing business. We are definitely going to see some big changes this summer, contracts will be terminated, and potentially a new philosophy during the draft (i.e. players that can play their positions). Hurney did some great things in the draft and brought in some decent free agents without breaking the bank. But his screw ups outside the first round of the draft as well as dealing future picks, huge contracts to aging stars, and the inability to find players at certain positions (Wide Receiver, Defensive Tackle) made us grow weary of his decision making. Despite Hurney's success, we quickly turned on him in the last few years, albeit warranted. My question is how long does Gettlemen get before we begin to question his ability to make us a winner?

What do you want accomplished? What will be considered a huge failure? How long is his grace period last? 1 year? Two years? Does he get a pass because he hasn't picked his own coach?

I love all you negative people. NOT. This team is already heading in the right direction. I'm not one that believes Rivera will fail next year. As negative as some of you are I can't help but wonder how you get through a day without commiting suicide.

I'm giving him 3 yrs.

I wanna see a 1st rounder who can make instant impact on this team like a Cam and Luke. I don't want someone that we draft that we'll have to wait and see him on situational plays only. The draft should be taken through carefully. Trading down should be an option and a no brainer.

Fix the cap, cut the aging player with big contracts (Gamble) and restructure the rest. Learn how to bring in FA guys that can be an added piece to this team and not off the street guys. We, Hurney passed up on no brainer guys like Carlos Rogers recently who wouldve fill a needy position. I dnt want to see anymore of that bullshit.

    • This is one of my key concerns lost in the sauce that is the neverending conversation about him evading pressure and the OL. Eventually any QB is going to have to step up into the pocket and show the defense they can still beat them even if they get through. We have a limited QB who cannot consistently do this and as such we are relegated to going back and forth about how successful he was at evading pressure but we have little else to write home about. Tyler Shough stepped up into the pocket and made plays despite being pressured and sacked. He's played in about 35 less games than Bryce Young. That is a problem. And isn't just going to go away. The Bucs are going to do the same thing after watching the film.
    • Oh, absolutely! That doesn't absolve the absolute dogshit hockey that the team played in front of him, though. Only Cane that played well tonight was Bradly Nadeau.
    • Thanks for illustrating my point.  No one in the last several pages of this discussion is suggesting we should hang on to him, but anytime someone says anything less than "take him out back and shoot him" you act like they are. That's either you not understanding what you're reading or just being a nimrod because you can't keep up. (I would have said 'or just sh-tposting' but you're way too emotional on this topic for that) Either way, the result is the same 😆
