Why so many JR haters?

I have been a big critic of JR especially in 2010 when he went on the cheap and gutted the team. But he has been the owner for 17 years and has done quite a bit right as well. We are certainly better off than the other franchise that was started at the same time, Jacksonville. I don't have a problem with people criticizing him, I have. But I prefer a balanced approach which also includes acknowledging his successes as well. And if you have to ask what those are, you are either not a long time Panthers fan or are incapable of seeing things from both sides.

I agree 100%. We are fortunate to have JR as an owner. He is a good person and I believe genuinely wants to bring a Super Bowl to Charlotte.

He took a gamble in 2010 that didn't pay off and is now suffering the fall out.

Without JR, the Carolinas would probably never have had an NFL team. I remember the days before the Panthers were here....we had no home team and everyone just followed their favorite team (Redskins, Cowboys, Steelers, Bears or whoever). I don't want to go back to that. It's a lot better having a home team...Just imagine how you would feel if there is no longer an NFL team in the Carolinas. What team would you follow?

Yes, I am disappointed that the Panthers are not winning but I appreciate that we have a 'home team'. I am also confident that now the Panthers finally have a franchise QB that they will start winning. Nobody can consistently win in the NFL without a franchise QB. The Patriots were not a dynasty until they had Brady. The Colts did not win until they had Manning. The Packers did not win until they had Favre and Rodgers. And Cowboys have not consistenly won since they lost Aikman, and the Bills & Dolphins have not won since they lost Kelly & Marino. The teams that never win (Chiefs, Raiders, Browns, Jags, Rams, and etc.....they don't have a franchise QB. As much as we all loved Jake, he was not a franchise QB and never was Beuerlein. Finding a franchise QB is not easy......but when you find one it makes a huge difference. The Panthers are on the right track, and they will start winning.

Why so many JR apologists?

Because we know deep down he's a horrible owner with the losses to back it up?

JR made his own bed for 17 seasons, he has to sleep in it. I suppose it wont be until he leaves this earth that people will feel comfortable enough to speak on how bad a owner he is. I'm sure he's a pleasant guy but NFL owner he's at the bottom of the food chain.

Mr. Richardson gets criticism from myself sometimes, but keep this in perspective: without him there is no NFL team here. No panthers. Most of you would be Steeler or Cowboy fans. I think most of you are deep down anyway.

Under his leadership we still dont have an NFL team. Sad the best thing we can say about him is "well he got us a team!". Cant even call him a winner.

What?? That is just ridiculous...I'm really trying not to point out your ridiculous troll posts but that just takes the cake. Please explain this because I am truly baffled.

Were you seriously even around before his heart transplant?

I thought Kurb and Zod clearly said don't ever quote each other anymore. Please don't.

Bad Owner? bottum line of the food chain, this teams had more success in the last 10 years then 2/3 of the NFL, has he been perfect? nope but overal I'd rather have him.

Most of the JR haters only have feelings to back up their argument, if you want to look at it from a pure stat point of view we have been a top 1/3 of the league for a while now.

I don't "hate" JR, so don't put me into that box, but I have to know...what obscure stat are you looking at that puts us in the top third of teams for the last 10 years?

Yo KT if u think the Panthers are bad you should talk to a few Browns fans

well the Browns are good starters

also see

Lions

Jags

Bengals - if you've ever heard some of the stories out there about the bengals ownership you would just shake your head

Raiders - so bad they are a punch line

Teams that the Panthers have had more success then over the last 10 years

Teams I name below are the ones that have been better over the last year it ended up easier naming the ones that have been better then the ones that haven't, the team count though are the teams the Panthers have been better then

The AFC west outside of the Chargers - 3 teams

AFC east outside of the Patriots - 3 teams - can make an argument for Jets but only 2 good seasons versus Panthers 3

AFC 1/2 AFC north - 2 teams - Ravens and Steelers are better overall

AFC south outside of the Colts - 3 teams

NFC East 1/2 - Giants and Eagles have been better, Cowboys and Redskins worse - 2 teams

NFC North, Packers are better and Bears area push/maybe slightly better - 2 teams

NFC South, Saints - this is just over the last 10 years so no SB for Tampa - 2 teams

NFC west - Seattle and Maybe 49'ers - 2 teams

So the Panthers just at a quick look have been better then 19 out of the other 31 teams in the NFL over the last 10 years.

Hardly the bottum feeder that many over emotional cry baby fans try and make us out to be.

    • We don't have to tear down Dak to appreciate what Bryce did yesterday. Dak had 0 running game. If the cowboys were better, he'd be a legit MVP candidate if he keeps playing this way.  They did it with Ceedee last year, but they do a better job of anybody we play consistently of getting their best receiver off Jaycee.  Bryce was good too. If we just catch the ball that was intercepted, we probably win by 7+, and Bryce goes over 200 yards passing.  Biggest shift the last few weeks has been play calling. I thought Canales abandoned the run game way to early at times last year. This year he really seems to be sticking with it.  I still think Chuba is better at making 4 yards when there's nothing there, but Rico is better at making 30 yards when there's 6 there. I like the direction. Hopefully we can get Moton, Sanders and Coker back and really be dangerous. Our play action game is pretty deadly right now.  Unrelated: My favorite quality about Bryce right now is his ability to see the defensive hold and throw the ball there. He EXPOSES the officials when they don't call it. That one on Tetaroia yesterday late in the game was a bad miss on their part.
    • That sacks allowed number lookin juicy!
    • This is a game the Panthers should win... just the sort of game they lose. The Panthers have a bad habit that goes back years of playing down to the competition's level only to mess around and lose the game. The Jets game should be taken very seriously! But I want to enjoy the fact that they beat the Cowboys for at least another day or so!
