Mark Trestman new Chicago Bear Head Coach

Trestman has better credentials than many NFL head coaches, including our own Ron Rivera. The only difference was, instead of getting turned down like 8 times, Trestman opted to gain some HC experience in Canada, where he could show he could manage games and oversee all 3 phases of the game.

Those who follow the NFL closely know this guy and that he is a very legit hire.

ive heard experts say his last job in SF 8 years ago he basically got ran out of town by the execs and fans but steve young spoke very highly of him

Trestman has lots of NFL experience. I remember when he was OC for Arizona, and seem to remember he was OC for at least 1 other team.

Just because he did a stint in the CFL, that doesn't mean he isn't a good coach.

First OC job was with the 49ers as I recall, back around the latter end of their first successful run or maybe a little after.

I remember thinking he didn't "continue the tradition" they'd established at that point. He's bounced around since. Some time in college too, I think, but I'd have to look it up.

Just as an example of part of his resume, in 2002 he was QB coach and OC for the Raiders. The Raiders led the league in offense, Gannon won the MVP, and the team went to the Super Bowl.

While not directed at you, those that think this was a poor hire need to look a bit closer at his resume. The guy is certainly qualified.

I definitely don't doubt he's qualified for the position.

I do question whether he'll be great at it.

That was Gruden's offense and he bitch slapped the Raiders in the Super Bowl.

Hold up, I'm not going to let you guys dog on Trestman. He's a good coach. He made Rich Gannon an MVP in his old age, and helped the Raiders go the superbowl with a primarily "past their prime" roster. The Bears offense just got a little better with this signing.
