Brandon Williams, DT, Missouri Southern

Couldn't find a recent thread on him, but I think he's a player to note for us. He's a big nose tackle, weighing in at the Senior Bowl at 6'2", 341 lbs. At the Senior Bowl, he showed great strength against the run, in addition to some surprising athleticism for his size. Although a lot of nose tackles quickly earn the title "lazy" (something I generally disagree with), he was commended for his hustle on the field and between plays. He routinely occupied two blockers during the game. There's the real question of quality of competition, but I think his performance at the Senior Bowl helps somewhat answer that question. He's an under-the-radar prospect who's moving up draft boards and who needs some polish, but I think he's a very serious option in the second round, meaning we could free ourselves up to go a different direction in the first.

So what are the general opinions of him?

Yea, good thread. I had heard the name a few times up til now, hadn't seen any videos or anything. He's build like a truck. Reminds me of a stouter Michael Brockers. Very little flab for such a big guy. I'd be ok with him in the 2nd, might even be my favorite 2nd round prospect if we don't go DT in the 1st.

This is a fella I am really interested in. He just seems like a machine and there's a lot of good stuff about him circulating around.

Between Williams at DT, Thomas/Bakhtiari at OT, & Patton/Wheaton/etc at WR, we will have a lot to choose from imo for our 2nd rounder methinks.

    • I'm looking at the schedule and I see a 10+win season easy.  I think Carolina goes undefeated in the division.  I also believe that the Bears, Bengals, Lions, Browns, Steelers are very winnable.  Revenge game with phillips and the eagles could be a win.  Honestly only 2 games I see as chalking up a L to off the bat is the Seahawks and Broncos.
    • I guess so. Don't think I was involved with previous discussions.  Tepper is one of the newest owners in the NFL. Dan is going into his 3rd season as a GM - ever. Dave is going into his 3rd season as a HC - ever. Before becoming a HC, he was an OC/playcaller for one season total. Idzik is about to go into his 1st year as a play caller - ever. WRs are rookies, sophomores and 3rd year guys - though the experienced 3rd year guys are XL and Coker (who has missed a ton of games). TEs are guys going into their 2nd and 3rd seasons, and Tommy Tremble - though Sanders has missed a ton of games. QB has played 3 years. Chuba is an experienced RB, but Brooks and Etienne have taken very little snaps at the position. O-line is more experienced vets with some talent - which is HUGE. Need them to stay healthy. I mean the offense is very young in every aspect except O-line. You see it differently?
