Bell isn't good. He improved.

Gross and Kalil are the only ones proven that can play at a starting caliber.

RT, LG, & RG all could use upgrades. I know Silatulu is young and can still be really good but just I think we can still find better (maybe even in the draft)

Personally, I'd like us to take a look at Kevin Boothe and go after a OT in the draft. If Bell or Silatulu remain starters and we don't get an upgrade, so be it, but if one is available we should go for it.

Bc if you had to turn around and cut him....he has even more bonus money (guaranteed) that would impact the cap.

Restructuring usually means reducing salary and throwing cash at a player.

Often when people say "restructure" they mean "renegotiate". Restructuring doesn't usually free up any total money from the entire contract. It just pushes it into the future, often with a little MORE money (in the future) for the trouble of restructuring to help the team now.

Renegotiating is when a team and player both know he won't get as much money from another team so the team threatens for either the player to take a paycut or get cut. Often this leads to a player getting cut, they test the waters in FA, then re-signs with the team at a reduced rate.

Beason has made it sound like he's not open to renegotiating to give money back. So a restructure sounds like the only option to straight cutting him, and in all likelihood a restructure would hamstring us even worse in the future. I love the guy, he's my favorite defensive Panther of all time, but I honestly think he'll be cut or traded because that's what makes the most sense. Traded so we can get some sort of compensation (even though the salary cap implications will be the same as it will be if we cut him), but if we can't trade him then cutting him is one of the ways to help our cap in the long run.

I'm not certain he wasn't being facetious. It's been years and we still haven't replaced any of those 3 guys. Maybe D. Edwards could be considered as Lewis' replacement, but not long term which is what I'm thinking of when talking about replacements.

LG will not be looked at to upgrade. We drafted the starter there last year in Silatolu.

He was a little raw when we drafted him, but hit better as the season wire on. Expect to see him on the OL for years to come.
