Wes Welker

Wallace and Jennings are really the only options when looking at A-tier FA WRs.

And I'll be honest and say neither are likely legitimate options. Wallace is going to be in a massive bidding war and Jennings is pretty ancient for the reported numbers he wants.

I'd love some Gettlemagic to land Wallace, but with as many reported teams vying for his services, it'll be a tricky maneuver to pull off.

For a team that needs alot of help in a lot of places, many of you surely are quick to deny it. Like were too good for them or something lmao

It doesn't have anything to do with needs for me, it has to do with his age, contract and the fact that we have a damn near clone already on the roster in Steve Smith. If we're going to invest in a WR I'd far rather get a young, proven guy like Wallace, or a promising young guy in the draft with a rookie contract.

look man if hes gunna test the market, and if everyone has comes to the consensus that hes cheap, then why the hell not? The more talent the better. He doesnt have to be the answer to our reciever problem, bbut he could be part of it.

Im not even advocating the guy, its just funny how some people regardless of position will just say a stright no to a guy. Lol we suck. We need help. Beggers cant be choosers folks. And explainations as to why not to attain a player is better then "no".

But i agree with you man. Hes not the answer

You have to be choosy when you have as little cap space as we do, we're also looking to the future and that's not what Welker gives you.

He's one of my favorite players in the league, I just don't think he's a good fit here, now.

The problem is Wes Welker will not go cheap. That is the reason why he is testing the FA market in the first place.

    • Oddly feeling really good about tonight. fug the heat
    • Here are my takeaways from the conference (IMO): - Is Dan against taking a WR 3 years in a row? No. Would that be his preference? Also, no. Not by a long shot.  - I think draft gurus are wrong. Tight end is not an early priority. They like the guys in the building enough to see them develop, but a later round guy is being looked at (just seemed like he was able to label a couple of guys "talented", but stopped short of suggesting the class is good at the top. Seemed quick to talk about the depth of the class) - If we are taking a DL, it will be in the top 2 rounds. They fall off a cliff at some point soon after. - They are targeting guys in each round. I think we are more likely to move up than down in this draft to prevent missing out on a guy. He doesn't want to give up a lot though, man loves his draft picks. - DBs are a priority. We want to come away with a safety and a nickel. Maybe even a safety that can play nickel. Thieneman sounds more and more like a real possibility, if he is there. We are taking a safety in the first 2 rounds, if I had to put money on it. - Age matters more for 1st round picks, probably (Mesidor), but not for after that (Stukes). - They have a guy or two that they want in the 1st round, but crazy things DO happen in the draft, and they may shift gears and take a different guy if someone falls that they didn't expect to be there.  - Character matters. A LOT. If a guy has character concerns of any kind, you can be pretty confident they aren't on our board. They may bring in a guy or two for a visit to gauge the validity/severity of the concern though.
