Dwan negotiation update: No movement

Yes!!!

The Theme is one year deals. Keeps us from having to suck up any addition money.

There is a reason no one is jumping at him for a 2 year deal. Say he gets injured next season. We cut him then we are still accountable for some of his salary.

Carolina shouldn't be in a charity business. If he blew his contract money on the spoils of life that is his problem. NOT THE PANTHERS

Sign him for the lowest we can. If he finds something better than that, they can have him. If he blew his career contract money on the spoils of life that is his problem. NOT THE PANTHERS.

I like him, I want him back but Gettlemen is doing it the right way. One and done.

I love that Gettleman is taking the emotion out of his offers. Pay him what the market demands... no more, less if possible.

Dwan likely only has a couple more years in the league. Why would you offer him a big contract with multiple years?

If he walks, then replace him. I don't think it'll be that difficult to be honest.

contrary to popular belief, mine included, Dwan may be ok vs the run (if you trust stats from footballoutsiders)

Best Run Stop Rates for DL, 2012 (min. 30 Plays)

Player -Team - Run Stop Rate - Run Plays - Run Dft - Run Yd/Play

J.J. Watt HOU 98% 58 26 -0.2

Desmond Bryant OAK 90% 30 9 1.4

Geno Atkins CIN 86% 35 11 1.5

Jabaal Sheard CLE 85% 41 6 2.2

Dontari Poe KC 84% 38 6 2.3

Dwan Edwards CAR 84% 37 3 2.5

Darnell Dockett ARI 83% 30 7 2.4

Muhammad Wilkerson NYJ 82% 61 10 2.0

Vince Wilfork NE 81% 43 8 1.3

Greg Hardy CAR 81% 42 8 2.7

*Mitchell was on the list for top DBs at run-stopping

Mike Mitchell OAK 55% 20 11 4.9

Also nakamura had by far the worst run stop rate in the league, by like 5%

That makes sense, and if it gets us the best product while pulling out of the quick sand, you won't hear me hooting and hollering.

6 sacks from a defensive tackle is hard to replace especially with his amount of time on the field. He will probably come back if he doesn't have any higher offers.

    • Oh, no TV for tonight's game unless you have the NHL Network, I believe. I could be wrong, hopefully?
    • Early returns are great and exciting but also worth noting that Gettleman had a few drafts that looked incredible early on and wound up mostly sucking (2014 mainly). Also PFF; grain of salt, etc.    I'm completely sold on Tet being a stud, knocked a high pick out of the park like we needed to and always should. Nearly sold on Scourton. Not sold on Princely but he had flashes. Not sold on Etienne as more than a 3rd stringer and special teamer, but that's not terrible for his draft position. Big fan of Ransom and think he'll be a starter.  Cam Jackson : IDK, I see limited upside but we didn't see much of him Evans was a nice find for draft position and he had a great rookie year for a late round rookie TE with plenty of veteran competition. Not sure about his upside though, seems like best case is a long term #2/3 TE, which isn't bad. Jimmy Horn, personally I didn't see a damn thing from him that impressed me all year. And he got a lot of opportunities. Pulling for the kid, but not convinced he's an NFLer.   UDFA: Fitzgerald was an amazing find
    • Hoping someone tells us Bussi was in the starter's crease for the morning skate. Otherwise, place your 1st shot- 1st goal bets! Any closer to a deal that could land a 2C in Trocheck or Brayden Schenn? Or land a winger in Alex Tuch or reach for Jordan Kyrou?
