Maine's Final Mock Draft

Recommended Posts

I think everyone that is frequently in the Draft section of this forum is familiar with each of these prospects so I will not get into them and why I think they are good fits. We need impact players that can start right away in positions of need and I believe this mock does just that. Without further ado...

14. Jonathan Cyprien - Safety (Florida International)

Would start week 1 and make an immediate impact on this team and be a lethal pairing with Luke for years to come.

44. Jesse Williams - NT (Alabama) /// Kawann Short - DT (Purdue)

Either of these two could come in and greatly improve our defensive line play from week 1. With the additions of Cyprien and Williams or Short, our defense instantly a threat to be amongst the leagues best if they can play to their potential and our LB core stays healthy.

108: Aaron Dobson - WR (Marshall) (Wouldn't mind Kenny Stills here either)

Big target that will be beneficial to Cam. Excellent hands and could be a valuable red zone target. Can compete for time in training camp and I'd suspect he could be a decent player for us as a rookie. I think he would beat out the likes of Armanti Edwards, David Gettis and could even be more of a receiving threat that Ginn.

148: Alvin Bailey - G (Arkansas) /// Oday Aboushi - G/OT (Virginia)

Great depth on the offensive line and it wouldn't surprise me if either of these guys become great pros. Not sure they would push for a starting roll very early, but we need quality depth on the offensive line and either of these young men provide just that. I still believe Gettleman brings in a veteran starting guard after the draft.

182: Dustin Hopkins - K (Florida State) /// Caleb Sturgis - K (Florida)

I do not know about you but I am sick and tired of the kicker rotation we have had here in Carolina since the great Kasay left. Mare was not the answer. Medlock not the answer. Gano is not the answer. Take whoever you feel is the best kicker in the draft and stick with him because both of these guys I feel will grow into great long-time pros at the kicker position. We cannot underrate this position and need a guy to win ball games in the clutch and bail out our offense when it stalls.

I like it a lot, I just don't agree with the "experts" who have Williams and Short dropping so far...either way any one of them would be a great pick in round 2. I am ok with Cyprien, Would really prefer one of the top WR's in 1. Sweet mock, I am super excited about round 2 DT's.

    • He’s been every bit as much of the problem as anyone else. You cant remove him from that fact, he is just as much part of the team and in THE most important position on the field. But this is the first season he’s seen any kind of continuity in his team and coaches. And he’s shown flashes here and there. But we do need more out of him going forward a lot more if we are going to be successful
    • Bryce isn’t great and super mid. But I think can be a game manager. What do we think is out there? Daniel Jones isn’t going anywher. Mac Jones? Zach Wilson? Pickett. I’m just not sure what’s out there that is much better without having to give up a ton of capital. Rather take one more step closer to contention with our early rounders next year with FS and LB help. Make this  place where dang they got a defense and a WR1 and solid RB room. I can win with that and want to be here
    • AR15 is if Justin Fields was fragile and his teammates hated him. No thanks. Ya'll think you hate watching Bryce Young? Wait until your QB can't even complete a 7 yard pass over the middle, which Fields and Richardson can't do. If the draft class was better, I could absolutely see the Titans moving on from Ward already if they got the #1 pick. But so far the college QB's haven't impressed enough. They'll have flashes, but then follow it up with a very meh game. Kyler is already done in Arizona, but he has a ridiculous contract and he's basically Bryce that likes to scramble, so no thanks. If Lawrence can't produce with that team in Jacksonville, what do you think he'll do here? He's tall Bryce who can throw deep but can't make the 4th down throws and crumbles in the red zone. No thanks. I do think Canales wants to move on from Bryce, his body language says so even in wins. He treated Bryce pretty odd this week and Bryce looked checked out in the Packers game. But unless they make another risky trade, its going to be slim pickings. Basically our hopes lie in hitting early in the draft with a Mateer, Nussmeier, Beck type or finding a random backup free agent that has another gear to hit.  I think even with the draft being wishy washy, 4-5 QB's will be taken in the top 7. A lot of teams are just that desperate.
