I'll be outraged if the Panthers don't put up historical rushing numbers this year!

Considering the guys we got (how easily D-Will put up 200 yards against the Aints), there is no reason why we shouldn't dominate the ground this year. We got Cam, got D-Will, J-Stew, and the boulder big Mike Tolbert! If we don't re-write the history books in regards to rushing yards and rushing touchdowns, I'm going to be furious as a Panther's fan. These guys are like the resurrection of San Fran's Million Dollar Backfield. (Except this time, these guys are making millions of dollars) So everyone, let this be the rallying cry for this year. Last year I'll give them a pass. Chud is no longer here to mess stuff up with his read option oriented offense. No other backfield is as loaded as ours. Cam, D-Will, J-Stew, and Tolbert are Carolina's showroom floor....

who was williams running against? a team he's always owned and which happened to be the worst defense in the history of the game.

let's not forget that. 200 yards against the worst defense ever comes with an asterisk beside it.

i agree, tho. we should set records with that run game considering we have four studs carrying the ball (and if we add austin or patterson it would be 5). that said, if you don't dominate thru the air, you don't go all the way unless you have a defense that completely shuts down the other offense like the 85 bears and '00 ravens.

Foxball aside, we have the best group of runners out of the whole league. I mean we would be in the top ten in terms of rushing without even trying. To have these guys, and not capatilize on that skill is just a crime. If Rivera doesn't make the playoffs this year, he will be fired. However, another good reason to fire him would be not capatilizing and dominating the running game. I almost wish to have Fox back just one year, just to see what we could do on the ground.

If anyone calls their self a fan and pretends to not be optimistic or excited for this season fug off you aren't a fan then

There's lot of room between being optimistic or excited about the upcomming season, and expecting to put historical rushing numbers. Would I like to see it happen? Yes. Do I think we will? No. Do I think our backfield wil look solid? Yes.

Really doubt Rivera is willing to throw away his make or break year by trying to break rushing numbers.

He's gonna be doing everything he can to win football games.

Not that I'm saying we should try to break rushing records, but that we should dominate the ground this year. No other team should have it better in this category, it would be blasphemous.

A quick question to everyone. What other backfield is better stacked than ours?

Of course not for everyone to get me wrong, I also believe we will have a strong passing game. I'm probably the few who believe Cam can be a surgeon with his arm in terms of arm strength, accuracy, and anticipation. Yet the basic gist of what I'm saying is, we should have the best rushing attack in the league, even to breaking records.

    • That makes me wonder, how many starting tackles in the NFL and/or elite tackles have short arms? I feel like there’s probably lots of tackles that end up being drafted in later rounds because they had short arms or didn’t have the physical tools.     also why not draft a tackle in the later rounds that we could move to guard or center if they fail, instead of drafting a center? If we draft a center we know they aren’t going to play tackle but if you draft a tackle they could end up playing any of the 3 positions, look at BC for example. It feels like it’s a better decision to draft a tackle in later rounds than a center.
    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
