ROY For 3rd Year Straight?

Mr. Scott how excited were you about the pick? What was your reaction when the pick was made?

I was pretty happy with it, and honestly, relieved.

Prior to the announcement of pick 13, I had a sick feeling the Jets would take Lotulelei and we'd wind up with Sheldon Richardson instead. based on what's being reported about other options now, it sounds like we wouldn't have taken Richardson anyway, but boy was I worried for a bit there

Now we have someone with the potential to be an elite DT for the first time since we got Kris Jenkins. If Lotulelei turns out to be as good as advertised, defense could be a load of fun to watch this season.

I know what your saying, its not the sexy position pick for DROY. But this is no normal draft. Who are we looking at? Milliner, Jones, Ansah, Mingo, Jordan, and Vaccaro? The defensive players this year have question marks to me. Milliner, has some big shoes to fill in a big city. If he produces that big city media will help him win. He's the biggest threat. Jones, might be in the best position to succeed. Ansah, no college production and or experience Mingo maybe. Jordan, never played full time in college to prove anything to me. And Vaccaro, hes a saint, I laugh, that secondary is so bad, he will look bad.

I'll grant that it's a possibility. Regardless, as long as he plays well, I won't worry about awards.

I completely agree with everything you said. Was really hoping I wouldn't here Floyds name either.

I say, if he has decent numbers, and the D improves dramatically, he may get some recognition. Especially if we exceed expectations and make the playoffs. National exposure can't hurt. Personally, if he plays anywhere near his capabilities, we just got scary.

    • He is "Keep Pounding." https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45498715/nfl-carolina-panthers-chuba-hubbard-olympics-flag-football-track
    • This.  He knows where the seam is about to open, cuts, and accelerates hard. He’s slippery and tacklers always seem to be taking awkward angles to get to him. No dancing. Runs low and powerful. Almost never goes backwards for a loss. We’ve rarely had the guy who bounces off of tacklers. It’s nice seeing another one.
    • I can't speak for others but yes I read it. The conclusions are based heavily around the use of the statistical metric DYAR created by football outsiders and used by ESPN for this article. It only includes players whose production began in 2000. But excluding HOF running backs who produced BIG in an iteration of the NFL that was not yet catered to making things much easier for offenses in order for them to prop up more recent candidates is rather absurd and seems like just playing favorites regardless of where one might fall on their opinion of the use of the metric in question.
