Charles Davis reaffirms he is the biggest idiot in sports media

Is it so hard to look and see that we re-signed Dwan Edwards who had a good year as a three technique? It is amazing to me to see that so many of these "experts" that do this for a living continue to fail to see the obvious. We could rush the passer last year on defense. We struggled stopping the run. Star was the obvious choice for our needs and that is especially the case when you looked at our roster prior to tonight.

But yes, lets reach for Patterson Davis and Billick...considering the guy fell to the end of the first and there was apparently no reason for it?

Ok I understand the need for a receiving complement, but DT has been a problem area for far too long and aside from spending big money on a bona fide DT in FA, the Panthers made absolutely every effort to patch it up to no avail, notwithstanding the fact that Star is a better value at 14 than any WR you can think of in this draft.

The smile on the faces of Rivera and Gettleman say otherwise. Charles Davis has never been a good analyst period.

I'd say that's being a bit too kind. I've always said, he is the most difficult to listen to and the most ignorant sounding person in football. At his best, all he does is regurgitate hype that others have already started. When he's not doing that, he's slinging poo against the wall that's so out of left field I can do nothing but chuckle at how stupid he sounds.

Offensive league, Cam is our franchise, and Smith is old.....nothing wrong with them saying we need a WR.

Also nothing wrong with them saying looking in the 2nd round and later isn't where you find impact WRs....and that strategy hasn't worked for us.

so with a draft deep at WR we should reach for one in the 1st.................gotcha!

But we always pick a 2nd or 3rd draft tier draft WR....that was there point I think. That generally leaves you with a Brandon LaFell type. More of a JAG.

Did you even listen to what they said? It wasn't so bad. So he thought Richardson was a better fit for what we do, so what! Regarding Smitty, he was pretty much on point as far as I'm concerned. You do have to remember that these are national analysts, not diehard fans.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
