Saw DeAngelo Williams today...

..at the Thunder vs. Grizzlies game in Memphis. During one of the breaks he was given a ball and told to shoot threes, and if he made one within 45 seconds everyone in the arena would win a free tea from Sonic. He sank the second one he shot, and took a huge bow at the end. Everyone gave him a standing O.

I know, I know, nobody cares that DeAngelo was at a Grizzlies game. However, I just wanted to say that the guy is loved wherever he goes, and has a lot of charisma and class. Say what you want about his contract, but if he gets traded on June 1st the locker room will have a huge void.

Couldn't possibly disagree with a single thing you said. But, that still doesn't change the circumstances. His contract is holding this team back. Love D-Will for everything that he's put into this organization and community. As fans, he's the kind of guy that we have no choice but to cheer for regardless of how much money he's making. He's a Panther and he loves this team.

So much animosity toward D-Will because of his contract. He is a good dude and a good RB.

My feeling on it is, if we can sign an impact player I don't mind cutting him. But we are under the cap right now and there is not any impact FA out there so why make this team worse if we don't have to.

DWill's contract may be on the high side, he certainly has the potential to be worth every penny as he has shown in the past. The zone read offense was a hard adjustment for the backs because they didnt have any downhill speed first of all, and second of all they werent the ones reading the DE to their backside so they never knew if Cam was going to pull it or not. Its hard to get up and run hard when you kinda freeze for the first 2-3 seconds of the play while everyone else's motor is already at 100%.

Give it one more year with the shula offense that we saw more of later in the season that made more use of cam under center and less of the zone read. Gettleman has a plan, he seems to always think a few steps ahead.

I love the enthusiasm and loyalty, but I disagree.  He may have a year left in the tank, but historically, the past is not an accurate indicator of future performance when the RB is 30 or more.

The issue with DW is not whether he is good for the team locker room, worth the money (he is not-check the stats) or is liked in Memphis; the issue is this--how much would the RB position decline if we used his salary on players at other positions of need (and how would those positions be upgraded)?

With the addition of Barner, something has to be done. This is more of a roster spot issue than salary cap.

he's finished on IR just as many times as he's rushed for 1000 yards

Please stop making him sound like he's not an injury prone 30+ year old running back we are paying more than 95% of the running backs in the league

Your mentality is why we are always 7-9. But I loooove him and heees so nice.

So the fug what. Grow up and realize this is the NFL and not match.com

    • It's your right to refer to it as vague, but it still flouts the theory of "zero evidence" that Tepper is changing. Here's another: "Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales and general manager Dan Morgan are reportedly being given a larger leadership role within the organization. Panthers owner David Tepper 'has taken a more hands-off approach of late,' according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. 'He's trying to trust Canales and GM Dan Morgan to get it right, knowing that the roster requires patience in its current state,' Fowler wrote. 'We shall see if he holds to that.'" https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10146782-report-panthers-david-tepper-has-taken-a-more-hands-off-approach-to-team   ""David Tepper just wants to win and he's gonna supply everything that we need to win.. Things are changing around here and things are looking really positive" ~ Dan Morgan  https://x.com/PatMcAfeeShow/status/1917639137550627107?t=6vgo8yXTO6eD0Gb55hyzNg&s=19   From about 2:15-6:35, Julian Council, Locked on Panthers, gives his take on whether Tepper seems to be changing (and specifically referenced the war room in his analysis):    Dean Jones of Cat Crave on David Tepper in the war room. "He was an innocent bystander throughout a hugely important decision, placing full trust in Morgan and Tilis to make the right call." Jones also quoted Pat McAfee: "What I noticed though, at one point, they looked at (David) Tepper to get an answer, Tepper didn’t say sh*t. All anybody has said about Tepper is that he’s hands-on, hands-on, hands-on. Too handsy, too involved. He’s not letting the football people do their thing. We just watched in the biggest moment for their franchise, a top ten pick, he just sat there and let everybody do their jobs. I think if you’re a Panthers fan, you love everything you saw there." https://catcrave.com/silence-from-david-tepper-becomes-panthers-loudest-victory Granted, you're not getting a major headline here, but that's not going to happen anyway. Fowler isn't exactly a nobody, everybody knows McAfee, and you also have some locals that follow the team (including Dean Jones). Of course you have a right to believe that Tepper hasn't really changed, but to say there is no evidence that he just may be changing is not really true. It's just not. Hate the guy, but the way that he has handled this current regime is different than he handled previous teams, and his silence in the war room and publicly in general is different than years back.
    • Ehhh im not mad either way I don't think hes garbage but he was and is overpaid.... but he was a skating turnover machine.
    • My interpretation of his comments was somewhat different. And I took issue with his contract the day he signed. But it's all history now and doesn't matter in the big picture.
