Peppers

lol talk about revisionist history. he said he didn't want to come back back after we lost that last playoff game. he blew off the FO who was offering to give hime the biggest contract for pretty much any defensive player ever. he wouldn't even talk to the FO. he complained about getting tagged and made it plain, through his agent, that he didn't want to be tagged again and then he appropriately played to get another contract and he didn't even sign the tag until the last moment with threats of hilding out....again, thru his agent. they blew off any further communication with the team and when his tag was up, the FO got a clue that he didn't want to be in carolina anymore and gave him what he said he wanted....out.

and then what does he do? say he was willing to talk and work something out and act surprised that they let him go...please. he just didn't want to look like it was his fault but if you were paying attention at all you could tell he didn't want anything more to do with the team and turned into a passive aggressive turd in tbe process.

when he went to chicago he confessed to half assing it while he was here.

This is the absolute definition of a bitch. Which Peppers is.

maybe jerry richardson calling him out in front of the entire world at minter's retirement presser wasn't the right move.  maybe fox's message and style had worn thin on him like it had on jenkins a few years prior.

the entire fiasco is still 70% peppers and 30% hurney/panthers FO.  he could have played nice and been uneventfully traded to almost any team that was willing to have him, he really could have.

the problem was that there was a constant geyser of stupid poo spewing out of peppers' camp and making the news.  whether it was "i want to play 3-4 outside LB" or "i have a list of 4 teams i'm willing to play for" or refusing to sign his tender until right before camp in 2009, he was working overtime to make himself as hard to trade as possible either intentionally or unintentionally.

ultimately, had everything played out the same way, the best thing to do might have been to just outright let him walk after 2008. this fanbase probably would have melted down worse than it did after the jake extension if that would have happened though.

That's a crock of poo and you know it.

This can't be serious.

the whole thing just shouts that it was peppers who was the problem....not the panthers. he didn't want to be here anymore and he got what he wanted....not what the team wanted, but what he wanted.

Passive aggressive? That's a new one.   at the end of the day the NFL is a business, Pep was looking for as much money as he could make, with the best terms.  I am not gonna hate on him for wanting to get paid.

In regards to admitting that he half-assed it here, that is bullshit.  The man basically said he got tired and that it was hardly realistic to think that you could play on play 66, like you could play one. This isn't an admission of half-assing it. Rivera and G-man apparently realize that players get tired, which was one reason they went ahead and drafted Star and Kawann who had the same damned knock on them by many accounts. But, of course Huddlers and other fans want to gloss over that fact and call Pep all kinds of lazy and refer to him as a bitch (among other things).  Please! At the end of the day, it was the FO which was passive aggressive against him. They didn't want to pay the money, then went silent on him. Pep, arguably could have handled the situation better, but so could have the Panthers FO. So why not do what I do and call it a wash? Business is business. Sorry if you don't agree with that take, but it's just how I see it. Contrary to all manners of bullshit that people would like to push around here, the team was never better without Pep, and the defense showed it.
