Quintin Mikell?

I was shocked that nobody has mentioned Quintin Mikell as a possible FA signing, I know Woodson is one of the best to ever play his position but Mikell is 4 years younger, would cost less and is probably a safer pickup.

I don't see why we would contact Woodson then.

I'm sure we have contacted a whole lot of players that we just didn't know about. You contact players to feel them out, see what they are asking, and decide whether that makes your team better, not just now but in the future (cap hits).

It's a dangerous game to play if you bring in Woodson just to see if he can impart some wisdom here or there. I would be the first to buy his jersey, but I only want the guy if he can play. If he can't offer him a consultant job or bring him in as a intern secondary coach. Neither of those options effect cap space or roster spots.

What happened to Mikell? He got a huge payday and what? Now he's available? Weird...

The Rams cut him as part of a cap move. Mikell graded out i believe as a top 5 safety last year. The Rams supposedly want him back at a lower number. Mikell might not want to do that.

I dont agree.

Mikell>Woodson>>>>>Rhodes

Rhodes plays when he wants too. Kind of a diva. Woodson is talented, a great leader, and a future hall of famer. Mikell only has the edge on him from an age standpoint.

As a diva, I agree. But, as an overall FS Rhodes has the nod over Woodson.

Woodson hasn't been great the last two years. He's been beaten in coverage pretty badly, but his ability to create turnovers made people look past that.

Woodson would be a nice addition to this team, but he's more of a "nickle" CB/FS than a true FS. Rhodes has the ability to stand in the backfield and solidify the secondary.

Do you know what kind of contract Rhodes is looking for? I think that will play in the direction the Panthers will take.

Nope, but at this point of time Rhodes, Woodson, Mikell, or any other FAs isnt going to get what theyre looking for. The market is so much different today than 3-4 years ago. I would think that we could grab which ever one we want out of those three guys on 1yr 3-4 mil contract. Theyre not going to get anything more than that elsewhere especially if on a competitive, SB contender. Those players would have to take less to be on a Denver, NE, SF, etc team.

    • Good, our ST is almost as bad as our ILB depth!
    • With two starters on expiring contracts (Moton + Corbett) as well as a few back-ups (Christensen, Mays, and Nijman), the Panthers are likely going to have to reinvest in the OL after this coming season. Icky's fifth-year option was picked up by the team this offseason while Lewis and Hunt both remain under contract then (though Lewis' deal is set-up in a way that would let Carolina move on from him then as well). I think that the team is going to be looking at investing a premium pick at RT should Bryce's development continue, and might even look to double dip at the position in order to have a swing tackle that can also kick inside when needed. There's also the question of starting center... Prospects I'm watching this upcoming college season... Centers Jake Slaughter (Florida) Iapani Laloulu (Oregon) Connor Lew (Auburn) Logan Jones (Iowa) Parker Brailsford (Alabama) Connor Tollison (Missouri) Bryce Foster (Kentucky) Pat Coogan Notre Dame) Raheem Anderson (Michigan) Carson Hinzman (Ohio State) RTs Francis Mauigoa (Miami) Kadyn Proctor (Alabama) Spencer Fano (Utah) Gennings Dunker (Iowa) Blake Miller (Clemson) Isaiah World (Oregon) Caleb Tiernan (Northwestern) Monroe Feeling (Georgia) Earnest Greene III (Georgia) Monroe Mills (Louisville) Charles Jagusah (Notre Dame) Tree Babalade (South Carolina) Trey Zuhn III (Texas A&M) Nolan Rucci (Penn State) Tristan Leigh (Clemson) Fernando Carmona (Arkansas) JC Davis (Illinois) Riley Mahlman (Wisconsin) PJ Williams (SMU) Tosh Baker (Notre Dame) Aki Ogunbiyi (Texas A&M) Courtland Ford (Kentucky) Ethan Onianwa (Rice)
    • I watched documentary on the 2010 Auburn season and Cam wasn’t included in that either. I think he just doesn’t care for these things
