Am I the only one that wants us to be a conservative ground and pound offense?

Yes, the guy that rushed for more yards than either of the billion dollar backfield is overrated

Next caller

Right, if anything Cam is severly underated by non-Panthers fans. I was told Cam wasn't as good as RG3 and that's why he had a sophmore slump. Funny thing tho, Cam's stats in his slump was equal to the great RG3 this year......hmmmm. Haha! But we have already discussed redskins logic. Lol!

And that's just one example.

This is misleading. Others would call BS on this.

Yes, Cam had his moments, like against Seattle and Chicago (though Steve Smith slipped--causing the interception). I get that. However, Cam has certainly done his part many other times to win games, and the defense (no matter how well they were playing at the time), couldn't hold the lead to get Cam the come from behind/4th Quarter/Game winning drive, victory That's happened way to often in Cam's first two years.

For example: The sainted, Andrew Lucks's six game winning drives in 2012, all came after he scored a TD (even after INT's/bad play by Luck), where his defense was able to hold on to the lead when the opposition had more than enough time to tie or win the game. That what's Cam needed, that too many times his defense couldn't deliver.

Of course, Cam has made mistakes. He's a young QB, no matter how talented. Who hasn't? But he's also played great, or certainly well enough (through out, the 2nd half, or end of games), and had/has nothing to show for it.

RG3, Wilson and Kaepernick, didn't make as many mistakes as Cam, Tannehill or Luck, cause the first three were more tightly managed than the latter (three). How often do people seem to forget this?

I know some Panthers fans want to win at all cost, and are tired of losing. So Cam get's his fair share from some of them. I get it. But let's show some perspective (and liked we actually watched the games as well). The Panthers wouldn't be in most games (regardless of who they play), or have a shot to win at the end, if it wasn't for Newton.

Actually, your Head Coach/coaching, instills a winning and closing mentality, more than you're Rookie or 2nd year QB does (regardless what you or ESPN, etc., wants to banter lately).

Let's hope Rivera grows/learns with Gettlemen behind, pushing him, along with Cam?

Good example of the defense not holding late leads?

First Atlanta Falcons game.

Need I say more? Haha!

Thanks.

You noticed the three teams (and their respective QB's) that are at the bottom? Hmmmh.

The Panthers meanwhile, do run the ball, they just weren't that good at it (except for Cam, who props up their numbers).

The Panthers can get both more passing and rush yards out of their offense in 2013, as they did in 2011 during Cam's rookie season.

We'll see?

About 8 completion % lower, 595 more yards, and 8 more turnovers are equal stats?

Put Cam under the center more, and call more designed runs for our backs. I think we had a great balance the 2nd half of the season, and that's because we did those two things. Let's implement all of our weapons on offense (all 4 of our backs, Olsen, and Smitty specifically) and take some of the load off Cam's shoulder.

Some fans may view ground-and-pound as outdated or conservative but with a pass-happy league this could benefit us. Control the clock and pace, and we control the game. I'm not indicating that Cam and the offense should go the Alex Smith route (I want Cam to throw 60-80 yard bombs) but there's nothing wrong with 8-12 minute drives.

We've got D-Will, J-Stew and Tolbert for christ's sake. Make defenses fear our ground assault and then attack through the air. Physical play from RBs tire LBs and DBs faster than a QB slinging the ball 40-50x a game.

Yeah but we have Cam....and that trumps a 30 yr old Williams, injury plaqued Stewart and Tolbert.

The most fearsome player we have is Cam. Yet people want to go back to John Fox's RBs and play Foxball. Silly.

Give Cam a defense...and let Cam be Cam. If we ever bothered to give him a vertical threat in a vertical pass offense then we would be fearsome.

We need to take pressure off Cam and we do that with D....

We could fetal up and play Foxball but that will out every game on Cam late to make a play. We could curbstomp people with Cam and a D....not have to worry about playing perfect and late game perfection.

Turning Cam into a RB isn't the answer. You can continue to disrespect and discredit J-Stew, D-Will and Tolbert to make a faux point but when our offensive line isn't busy being mediocre our backfield is the deepest in the league. Therefore, let them do what they were paid to do. Cam can be Cam but I don't want our offense to follow in Chud's footsteps.

Didn't say to turn Cam into a RB. You just replied to such a notion.

Let Cam be Cam. Passer and mobile force.

That isn't disrespect. Cam is easily the most fearsome player we have. Teams are much more worried about him with the ball in his hands than any other player on our roster.

You found a new angle to your mantra. Fearsome Cam. I like it. I still don't like him getting whacked 161 times a season. There has to be a happy medium.

I like what we did. I did not like how we executed it. If we run the same O effectively. Everyone looks good. And to do that? We need our O-line to be effective. You agree with that I know.

My best case is that Kugzilla is already as good as Amini. If so, our line should be good enough to allow us to do whatever we want. We don't need to outthink the opposition. We just need to out execute them.

With luck. Our O will be better than last year. Our D already is. Put the two together. We should be a pretty darn good football team.

Cam rarely takes a hit....worry about him getting hit the pocket.

And it isn't an angle....the scariest player we have for opponents is Cam. Not the 2013 version of the old Double Trouble.

D isn't better in the secondary....pass rush doesn't get their and it will hurt just like it did all last year

Nice spin. 161 hits, is still 161 hits. No rarely about it. I do like how he has that uncanny ability to extend a play to the very limit then dive forward for a few extra yards. However, those are less common than him actually being tackled.

Pocket is a dangerous place, for any QB. You can't make it seem like it is more precarious for Cam.

The scariest player on our O is indeed Cam. I just feel he has already proven it. The threat alone should be enough to make a D hesitate. That little window is where we need to exploit Cam's ability. But hey, maybe it's just me.

If we run the ball effectively. Our RBs should avg close to 5ypc. With the same carries as last year, that is an additional 200 yards or so. Take those away from Cam, and I am good. 500 yards for Cam is optimal in my book.

Throw for around 4000, and run for around 500. That sounds like a very good season from Cam. Scrambles mostly, but throw in a few designed runs to keep the D honest. Pretty much how we did things at the end of the year.
