A reliable source has revealed that Nelson Mandela’s life support machine was shut down and he has died in hospital aged 94. According to the source, the iconic Mandela died last night while he was still in hospital for the recurring lung infection that left him in critical condition for several days.

Sad news, although not surprising.

The condition of South African anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela has improved overnight, President Jacob Zuma said Thursday, as the eyes of the nation remain fixed on his progress.

Zuma, whose statement came after he visited Mandela in a hospital in Pretoria, said Mandela's medical team told him the former president "remains critical but is now stable."

"I canceled my visit to Mozambique today so that I can see him and confer with the doctors. He is much better today than he was when I saw him last night," Zuma said.

Earlier, Mandela's oldest daughter said that although her father is critically ill, he opens his eyes and responds to touch.

I just came back from Africa a couple of weeks back and his health was the topic of much discussion while I was there.  The southern half of that continent is going to shut down for a week when he passes.

They love that man like nothing Ive ever seen before.

Mandela is my generation's Martin Luther King... a great man who never gave up on his beliefs or his country, even when that country treated him worse than any human should be. He is a world-changer and a social stimulus unlike any other we've ever seen, and I doubt seriously we'll ever be gifted with a presence quite like his again.

All life passes eventually, but I sincerely hope he continues to recover. I'm not quite sure the world is ready to lose Mandela yet.

    • Any idea what happened to him at LSU? im reading that he was considered a 1st round pick in 2023, had an off 2024 season with only 4 sacks but was also on a horrible FSU team then went to LSU where he was supposed to be on an aggressive defense that should have given him a lot of sacks but he only ended up with one….   was he injured? Did the top SEC competition expose him? What happened? Cause this guy was considered a top prospect .
    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
