Three Deep Depth Chart

Recommended Posts

Let's hope they've got our DBs all wrong, because if that is not our best starting group.  Josh Thomas could be our opening day starter and Josh Norman probably won't be.  Also, if Nakamura starts opening day, we are screwed.  This is probably what they think based on how we tried to put together the defensive backfield last year before injuries.  But actually, the back ups we put in played more consistently than our injured so-called starters.

DJ Campbell, Drayton Florence, and Mike Mitchell are all in play during training camp and we might be bringing in that Mikell guy, so that would shake things up, too.  Here is what our depth chart could look like (based on our current roster):

Josh Thomas

Charles Godfrey

DJ Campbell

Drayton Florence

Don't know as much about Florence, but he is a vet so he might have the edge over Norman.

One other note:  After our outstanding starters at LB, do we have much depth?  Looks a little thin to me.  Just saying.

8 receivers? That has Smith, LaFell, Ginn, Hixon, Gettis, and Edwards as receivers, and then Pilares and Adams as returners?

Edit: Or is this just right now and not a projection of what it will be when cuts are made?

3 columns of 11 for offense and defense plus ST's is way over 52. 66 + ~6

Ted Ginn backing up Smitty? mmk

QB Cam, Derek, Cameron

RB Williams, Stewart, Barner

FB Tolbert, Brockel

WR Smith, Lafell, Ginn, Hixon, Gettis, Edwards

TE Olsen, Hartsock,

LT, Gross, Campbell

LG, Silatolu, Williams

C, Kalil, Byers

RGKugbila, Hangartner

RT, Bell, Chandler

DE Johnson, Hardy, Alexander, Addison,

DT Edwards, Lotulelei, Cole, Short, Gaydosh

LB Kuechly, Beason, Davis, Sean, Blackburn, Klein

CB Thomas, Florence, Munnerlyn (nickel), Norman, Moore

S Godfrey, Campbell, Mitchell, Jones (Campbell by default)

ST, Gano, Nortman, Janson

KR and PR will come from Barner, Ginn, Edwards

We use Brockel as a 2nd FB or 3 TE. Versatility over Talent

Byers, Hangartner interchangeable as backup guards and centers.

White and Lester to Practice Squad

Can't really go to 5 LBs

We keep 6 WR because Ginn and Edwards are also special teams  Or

We could go with 5 WR and keep Lester or White because we might lose them if they go to the practice squad.

There isn't going to be room for all the Free Agents we signed.

Thoughts?

Players left off that I am not happy about but we can only have 53.

Kearse (Think Gaydosh beats him out)

Rosario,  Brockel being able to play TE and FB frees up a spot for someone else

Roh Would like to keep 5 DE but who you going to cut.

Adams is odd man out.  Edwards and Ginn can do what he does without fumbling.

Blackburn is solid and versatile, Senn is servicable, and Klein is an unknown. If only one sees major time the D will be fine... if two or more are forced to start, then a roster move might be in order.

    • Two things: 1. Dr. Eric Eager is central to the draft process 2. I know that it was edited, but we didn't hear "Thieneman" one time, not even before the Vikings pick.
    • Why would he sign here as a guard when surely someone would sign him as a tackle?  Assuming he is healthy
    • Went back to watching the highlights. With a sober mind haha. Here is what I saw.    freddie needs to make 1 of those but the rest aren’t on him.    Slavin was BBBBAAAD again last night. Not sure what is going on with these game one Slavin gafs.    miller was ok but had his worst game in the playoffs so far.    nikishin was no good. His his awful turnover led to the first goal at the end of the first period that just can’t happen. ghost was beat like a drum multiple times last night, including the go-ahead goal at the end jarivs wont shoot. He is either hurt or he is struggling mentally and I think it could be a combination of both. He passed up a wide open net on the power-play only to pass it to no one and cleared it himself.     Svech played well. He is getting zero help on that line.    aho. Worst game as a pro. I mean that. He won’t shoot it, passes go to no one and turns it over repeatedly.  He did exactly what they did against Montreal game one when Miller had a turnover. Aho left his man to go help and left the golden Knight player wide open in front of Freddie.  If I was Rod, you Tell Aho when that thing hits your stick you fire it  someone needs to sit him down just him in a room and ask what’s going on. He seems soft, timid and has zero fire.   canes could have won that game   There isn’t a gap between these two teams  they are dead even   Carter Hart’s gonna get lit up in this series. We can beat that guy. the consensus last night was our defense played horrible and our stars won’t score.  clean the defense up. Tell the top line to shoot it everything and we’ll win tomorrow night.   Possibly convincingly.
