Carolina Panthers: Luke Kuechly, linebacker

The inside linebacker is one of my favorite players in the league. This is another collision of "best" and "most important." Kuechly's just entering his second season, but he enjoyed a dominant debut, taking home Defensive Rookie of the Year honors (and earning my vote in the process). He's not just a tackling machine; he's a leader who's wise beyond his years.

Not a bad choice, but for the purpose of this thread... Is Luke Kuechly more important to this team then Cam Newton?

Let me put it this way... If you had to pick between Newton and Kuechly, who would you keep?

It has to be Newton. He single-handedly keeps us in and competitive in every game for the most part. If he goes down, Derek Anderson may perform decently because he is a veteran but Beason (assuming he is back to form) could slide back to the middle in event Luke is injured. Newton also accounts for virtually all of our points scored in one way or another.

I'd say we have a lot more depth at LBer than we do at QB...as I suspect most teams do.

Oh, how they forget. From a perennial 2-14 team before Cam to now a team with high expectation. Might I add, they haven't added a single player of significance on the offensive side since Cam. Now the team is on its way to taking off they're looking for anybody but Cam to give the credit to. This is so laughable and intentionally malicious. And I'm sure if the team starts 0-6 the media will be all over Luke. NOT!

Ditto

Very easy question..

Luke is a gonna be one of the best middle linebackers of this era but to think he is more valuable than Cam is laughable.

If Luke an the defense keep teams between 10 an 17 points this season we still lose a minimum of 9 games with Anderson at the helm...

Keek - he turned the whole defense around last year once he took over the M
