Cam vs RG3 Top 100 Plays of 2012

Hey boyzz, I don't really think this is worth its own thread so I apologize, but there isn't any thread even remotely related to this that I can stick it in without bumping something ancient.  Just thought this was funny though and worth sharing.

I've been somewhat keeping up with this "Top 100 Plays of 2012" countdown on NFL.com and noticed RG3's 76-yard touchdown run against the Vikings somehow made it all the way to number freaking FIVE.  That run looks pretty familiar though right?  Cam's long TD run against the Falcons was almost identical (72 yards vs. 76 yards, both TD runs along the left sideline) and where is it on the list?  Number 87...over 80 spots lower.  I couldn't care much less about this dumb NFL.com countdown, but I thought it was a pretty darn perfect portrayal of RG3 vs. Cam in the eyes of the media...and just a funny thing to take note of.

RG3's run wasn't even anything special...he was basically untouched the whole way.  No fancy jukes or broken tackles.  Cam obviously didn't break any tackles either but I would give our play the slight nod just cause of Steve Smith hustling down there and blocking 3 defenders by himself...and that sweet Cammy Cam dive into the end zone!

Anyways, 4 yards apparently is the difference between the 87th and 5th best plays of the year.  I'm not saying Cam's play deserves to be in the top 10, but I would probably put both around 40-60.  Cam's run was definitely the most exciting play of the year for me personally, especially since it put us up 23-0 against probably our most hated rival, but I can't honestly say it was one of the best plays of the year from a neutral standpoint.

Here's the link if you guys wanna check out both plays closer:

Cam: #87

RG3: #5

They're grouped in ranges of 10, so you'll have to click the tabs near the top to find each play.

Just for the simple fact that it was against the Falcons makes it #1 in my book.  Not only that, but it was a fuging curb stomp that put us up 23-0 to start the 2nd half.

Bob could fumble and his team manage to reel it in for a TD and he'd still somehow make SportCenter's Top 10.  Oh wait... that already happened.

I just realized that did happen. On Monday Night Football. I'm so tired of this cornball it's ridiculous.

My question is, what is so much better about his run that makes it 82 spots higher on the list?  The distance?  Nope, 72 yards for cam, 76 for RG3.  The amount of defenders evaded?  Not really, Rg3  might have passed one more defender, but he really just ran around everyone and then beat them with speed.  I honestly think RG3's was easier to pull off due to the fact that it was a called pass play, and since the Vikings blitzed on the outsides there was a gaping hole in the middle of the line.  He was able to survey the situation and go.  Cam had a designed run play where he really didnt have any other option, and he took it to the house.

Yeah, and get this, I actually heard people proclaiming how it was a "good" play on RG3's part.  Like fuging seriously...  they said he intentionally fumbled the ball in the direction of his teammate so he could score. *facepalm*

Hell, even when he fumbled in the game the commentators were slurping him and laughing about how he could do no wrong even when he makes a mistake it's a good one.

Meanwhile, Cam fumbles the ball and nearly the exact same thing happens, yet somehow he's a bad teammate and the fuging commentator proceeds to rip him and talk poo for the next 10 minutes.  This poo is getting beyond ridiculous.

Big Market Bob gets his knob sucked on the reg cause he plays in Washington and is the Redskins savior and Cam is repeatedly poo'd on by any media outlet because he's just their designated target. While the plays are laughably similar, the ranking is what I have come to expect from these sorts of things.

    • just read the thread. I would like to say that the team not being sold to Tepper is an absolute banger of an answer and probably the right one

Initial gut reaction when I first thought of this question is Kasay kicks it in bounds on the kickoff, but unfortunately I still think New England wins that game even with that My second instinct was pulling Bene out before he breaks his leg in the playoffs. My crackpot theory is if he never gets hurt we win the superbowl. I refuse to go back and watch the game but at some point Peyton throw an absolute duck that should have been pick 6'd. but because we were on our like fifth outside corner he was slow to the ball. this would have completely flipped that game because I'm pretty sure Denver scored that drive and the next one was the Cam sack fumble
