8-5-13 Training Camp

Recommended Posts

Why are we refusing to add offensive line players when it's clearly such a weakness?

We're scrambling just to have enough bodies there, much less a full 5 starter set we're fully confident in.

assuming that kugbilla and silatolu are back this weak in the next couple days, i'm guessing that they want to hold off for two things.

1) to see what they look like against the bears DL. it's a game that doesn't count and it will be telling just where we are. i don't think there's a better situation to find out what's what with the OL.

2) waiting for first round of cuts. better chances of getting the one we need at that point than now.

Brian Folkerts, getting first team reps on the left side because Silatolu is out.

Byers and Folkerts are the top two LG's today and Williams and Hicks are the top RG's today.

*goes to game-by-game thread to revise 10-6 prediction to 6-10*

We are fuged if those guys (minus Williams, tho I'm still leary of him starting) get significant time this season.

Today's a rough day...

On a usual (healthy) day it would be Silatolu and Byers at left and Williams and Kugbila at right.

While that is a step up, it's still not good.

something tells me, after the chicago game, Gettlemans eyes will open and will see the glaring need on OL.

Because with his years of experience in the NFL and his involvement in training camp thus far, he has just been blind and oblivious that our OLine is weak?  Is that really what you are implying?

If you sign someone now, you are picking from a pool of guys that nobody wants.  If you wait 2-3 weeks you are selecting from the guys that are actually on training camp rosters, practicing, and fighting for roster spots...

If Gettleman brought someone in to save our O-Line today... I would question that there would be better players available later on in camp once other team's make cuts.  A hasty decision would be more closed minded than waiting.  Especially when you can't afford to end up with a non-productive player.
