I wouldn't believe that. Connor was a great college player and we were really lucky to get him in the 3rd rd. Too bad he never lived up to his potential.

In hindsight, of course Cossell could say Klein is a better prospect coming out than Connor.

In hindsight? I don't think Cosell's really in the business of damage repair. He's pretty cut and dry about his evaluations and also one of the most respected talent evaluators in the business. If you listen to the podcast, he has plenty of supporting points for his reasoning. Also, we weren't "lucky" to get Connor in the 3rd - he was unremarkable when he was 100% healthy. It's not like other teams weren't aware he was available.

Connor was one of the best LB ever at Penn State. Connor also had over 400 tacklers there. Penn State sent a talented group of LBs (Paul, Connor, Bowman, Lee) and he was the unlucky one who went on and busted bc the man couldn't cover anything in coverage. Connor was projected as the no.1 ILB in the nation. He drew 1st round grade coming out of college and was considered one of the smartest player im the draft. How were we not lucky to grabbed the man in the 3rd rd??? Connor was a whole damn lot better college LB than Klein. Klein may end up being a better pro player, but he was never the better prospect when coming out this year compared to Connor in 2008.

Yeah, Dwayne Jarret had a stellar college career, too. Were we "lucky" to get him in the 2nd? The Golden Calf of Bristol broke virtually every QB record in NCAA history. So did Colt McCoy. Were the Broncos/Browns "lucky" to get those guys in their respective rounds? College accolades don't matter. You're not "lucky" unless a player outperforms his draft spot.

i'd say he's more of a brian urlacher/clay matthews/aj hawk type linebacker

I can't tell if you're poking fun at how people always compare white linebackers to other white linebackers regardless of actual play style.

If you are, A+, would read again.

Thanks for connecting the dots for me. I was thinking, those LBs have almost nothing in common other than being good athletes.
