Shula offense

The only thing I didn't like was to call a pass on third and two yards for a first down. Twice we called a pass and twice it resulted in a pick.   Lets see how the o-line can push when we need short yards for a first down. Other than that I like what I saw.

I liked the balance that I seen in the first preseason game. I'm still going to take it as a grain of salt. It's more about evaluating players and situations than anything else. Cams progressions seemed tons better besides that pick where he locked in.

Do y'all remember the Green Bay game? We were at the goal line and we had nanae running the exact route as lafell. Cam totally missed him but connected with lafell this time. Small change but these are things I look for when assessing improvementa

Im ok with him working on 3 and short passing situations. we need to get Cam practice at those. We know he can run for it most of the times, however if you want to keep the other team guessing you need to mix it up. also learning to pic up 3rd and short with a pass will help in goal line situations were we used Cam almost all of the time. the more he does those short passes they better more confident he will be in them. Then watch out.

we did not see shula offense Friday

we did not see and will not see <insert OC from any team name here>'s offense in any of the preseason games.

Bits and pieces maybe here and there.  But the structure of preseason is not to give the offense or defense a trial run.  Its to look at people and find where they break mentally or physically against competition NOT on your own payroll.

We saw base plays from the playbook..... and we know that us Chuds old playbook. Confirms why he is here

No doubt we saw some base plays that look like they can be from <insert any OC here>'s playbook.

Nobody shows or practices their "offense" in preseason.  No determinations can be made, only speculations.

I agree that it will probably be very similar to what we saw from Chud.  But no way we can tell that from Friday alone.  Frankly I am holding out hope for some differences from Chud so maybe that's why I'm harping on this a little.

Not from Friday alone...

But Rivera already addressed he was the OC in order to keep the same playbook and O.....so Friday helps confirm what RR has said.

Shula certainly will probably prefer different parts of it

I thought his play calling was good he just needs to keep improving as an OC and every now and then throw in some creative plays that might keep a team on their toes.

Like having Armanti Edwards at QB!  :thumbsu:

The tempo was a bit off, slow getting the plays in and to the line.  That's the part I still want them to improve on and show that old Shula MO is not relevant anymore.

Definitely.  I do recall some of the Riv "mic'd up" shots where he was constantly repeating "pick up the tempo, pick up your tempo" during personnel changes

that tells me that this is a point of emphasis and it needs to be.

Not really thread related....

But we are REALLY going to get a good look at where this D is despite it being just a week 2 game this week.

Eagles play fast. D is going to be tested. They also have there homerun WR healthy. Secretly looking forward to seeing the speed of Kelly's O.
