Backfield speaks of "broken promises"...

Ready to run after year of broken promises

“Last year was a lot of broken promises, shall I say,” Tolbert said. “But now we have a new offensive coordinator and things are starting to come to light.”

Tolbert signed with Carolina in 2012 after his first four seasons in San Diego, after he says he was told he would run the football and also catch balls out of the backfield as a hybrid-type back in two tight-end sets.

He finished with 183 rushing yards, his lowest total since his second year in the league, and went from 54 catches and 433 yards with the 2011 Chargers to 27 catches for 268 yards with the Panthers.

The more I hear people speak after his departure, the more I think Rob Chudzinski wasn't exactly the most popular guy in the Panthers locker room.

Its been said plenty of times but I honestly believe Chud called plays to get a head coaching job last season.  People got a whif during Cam's rookie season and then last year he got so cute.  Riveria even said during a recent interview that they had to adjust things after a self scout during week five.  Wonder if that was Riveria stepping in and telling him to stop or what.

Hard to say what it is because we don't know exactly what was "promised", but we do know that Big Mike was coming to a situation with a backfield of capable runners (including Cam). Everybody knew this, so he had to know it too.  So what exactly was promised? Sounds like more of a misunderstanding than sour grapes.

Basically we don't have enough specific information to make that determination.

    • As much as I would love to sit here and bash on Young.  I can't.   He is absolutely a part of this team winning.  He is the cool hand leading the offense along with the hammer, Rico.  He's making plays on 3rd and 4th downs, that are absolutely helping thus team win.  Is Bryce playing as well as we'd like? Nope. Although he had only 1 week off from a high ankle sprain.   No question he was 100% in the Greenbay game.  I'm not even sure where the team would find a clear upgrade over Byrce.  He is a leader.  In the 4th quarter, he has ice in his veins.  He is a part of why our team is enjoyable to watch again.  Without him, we wouldn't be winning.    Anyways.  Y'all enjoy yet another thread designed to tear down the man.
    • Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
    • How do I activate said Krispy Kreme deal? I'm stoned man you can't be playing with me about this...
