I grow less and less fond of Mike Mitchell.

Damn it, KLL, why does everything have to bee a "knee jerk reaction"?  The OP even stated that he is just watching. He hasn't finalized an opinion.  Get off that, knee jerk reaction soapbox. It doesn't always apply.

Moreover, it's not like Mitchell isn't known for making stupid ass bullshit plays.  He did it in Oakland, but what's more egregious in my opinion is that he did it in camp.  Mitchell obviously needs to get his ass under control. Furthermore, it's not like he is the next coming of Ronnie Lott. I am not even sure that he's the best safety on the team. Physical? Yes! Smartest (of which G-man and Ron Rivera covet)? No.

Mitchell better get his ass in gear, or he'll get less time as a starter than he did in sunny California.

KKL's idiocy is pretty well documented and I got the giggles while typing this thread thinking of how it was going to make his discounted wal-mart panties bunch. He's been one of three people on the Mitchell train ever since he saw that stupid youtube video showing how much "zomg, heart!" Mitchell has. How he flees to lame internet insult tropes every time something makes his underwear ascend into his dark cavity is always an entertaining thing to watch, as we see here.

To the matter at hand, the simple fact of it is, is that if Mitchell's reputation follows him here to Carolina he won't last. Poor players don't get to make idiot penalties. Again, I hope to see his measurables catch up to him and be a contributor on a team that sorely needs him to be. But he has to prove he's the answer and career backups from terrible teams aren't-or at least shouldn't-be awarded that title.

Your so right, please point me to which poster is doing that so I can fuss at them.

Not sure why you created a thread for discussion if your only responses are going to be sarcastic. We've got enough e penis measuring going on lately. I'd like to see a few more games from him before declaring him a liability.

Don't agree? Cool.

I actually like his attitude and his aggressive play. If it translates to flags on Sundays that keep drives sustained for the opposing offense, I have no problem with RR benching his ass though. I'm happy to see someone with aggression out there. If Smitty wasn't Smitty, we'd bitch about the fact that once he gets into a beef with a DB, he'll spend the next few plays wrestling with him and throwing him to the ground instead of running his routes. We'll see how Mitchell translates on game days I suppose.

Ed Reed got 4 15 yard penalties last year and was fined 6 times. No one would have cared if we had him now.

Again

One Preseason game. Can we atleast try as a fan base to stop with the knee jerk reactions.

Mitchell's body of work doesn't just consist of this preseason.....this preseason just backs up what he has proven to be on a NFL football season.

People seem awfully quick to claim any comment is knee jerk....

Mitchell plays bonehead dirty football, OL has big issues, etc. none of those are preseason knee jerk reactions.....plenty of non preseason support for those. The Star hate is knee jerk.

Oh there's no sarcasm at all, I just don't know know why you expect others who are more familiar with the situation to reduce their knowledge of it to your level.

Just because you don't know enough about players who aren't on the Panthers roster, doesn't mean that there aren't other footballs fans who are intelligent enough to evaluate and assess bodies of work for other players/

Nobody here who is questioning him needs to see more games, because we've seen enough already. Please don't try to convince us that the conversation should be drug down to your level of knowledge on the matter.

The question isn't "Does Mike Mitchell play dirty?" The real question is "Will Mike Mitchell continue to play dirty as he's done throughout his career now that he's in a starting position? Has he matured?"

we need more nasty. i'm more than willing to put up with the occassional 10-15 yards for a guy that can get the job done AND worry the guy with the ball.

But doesn't his history show that he can't get the job done?  It seems the only ones touting him are the local media guys who have shown their own history of not having a clue what they are looking at in camp. Where did this idea that he was good come from?

That's it? Feeble attempts at insulting my intelligence? Are we children? Come on Growl.

Bottom line, Oakland is a wasteland. There is a reason why they've had a new head coach just about every season for the last decade. He won't get away with those things here playing for the Panthers coaches.

Once again, please don't create a thread if you can't handle differing opinions and need to resort to this.

And if your skin is so soft that you can't handle a group of people not rah-rahing the latest fad and believing "He's a Panther now! Not a Raider! He'll be great!!" then perhaps this forum isn't for you. There's no insults here, only the cold hard reality that Mitchell has a reputation as a below average player and a history of dirty shots. If your defense against that is soft skin, then so be it. I didn't insult your intelligence in the slightest. I just reminded you that just because you aren't well enough informed of Mitchell's career history, expecting others to have the same lack of knowledge is nonsensical.

"Grr! Stop talking about his career as a Raider! I don't know what he did then! But he's a Panther now so he's gonna be good! Basically his career is only two games like pretty much for serial guyz!"

Lol if you don't think fans should keep a watchful eye on this guy when he's spent his entire tenure here so far living up to his rep. Don't hate on others because you're choosing to remain ignorant of his past, some of us like to formulate opinions out of a full body of work. Revolutionary, I know.

Going off on these condescending vitriolic rants like a toddler does not make your arguments valid. Neither does making completely baseless assumptions that I have no knowledge of Mitchell's history with the Raiders.

For something to be baseless, it would require for it to lack a foundation. Your comments on the situation have provided more than enough evidence to support that you clearly don't.

    • Evero to the Raiders makes zero sense unless the OC he's pitching them is a failed HC who doesn't have interest in trying for it again. They're a team about to draft a QB #1 overall, developing him is job #1 for the new coach/staff.  Hiring a DC with a young up and coming OC wouldn't make any sense, because then you risk losing that OC to a HC job after maybe just a year or two and that young QB has to change system, play caller, etc. It's why hiring an offensive minded coach makes the only sense.  The Raiders have to make the right hire/pick with this HC hire and #1 pick combo because of that division they're in, it's a gauntlet and you can't screw up this opportunity.
    • 1. Sadly, it's just too early to tell with Icky. And the draft will have come and gone before we have anything, FA, too probably. Njiman was good, but there's dollars to be invested there as well. This is really our biggest puzzle to figure out. And Moton on the other flank is getting long in the tooth, too.  2. Coker: Pay the man WR2 money.  3. Most WRs take three years before you really know what you've got. We'll know for sure by the end of this one and he's still on a relatively inexpensive rookie contract. Now if someone comes calling for a good, good trade... 4. This is the make or break for good teams vs bad teams. And depth development is essential. We've had a bit of that but there isn't a spot on our line that doesn't have worries except for maybe on guard.  5. I think you draft the best ILB, the smartest one in the first round and don't look back. People lost their poo here on this board when we "wasted" a pick on Luke Kuechly.  6. Yeah, I think Chuba is a workhorse. But we need to be more decisive in his use. Still not sure Rico doesn't come back next season, too. He'll get to see the marketplace first, though, and we'll offer similar numbers to him.
    • I've grown to enjoy Mike & Tripp, even more so after listening to the ESPN, TNT, TBS hacks who, for whatever reason, seemingly don't know dick about the Canes.
