Panthers sign Wharton

I hate to be a "kill joy" but Wharton left Carolina in disgrace. He couldnt stay healthy. He missed the last 3 seasons of his career on the sidelines.

I hope he comes back strong b/c we need it, but I'm far from thinking he will do much on the field

He played 16 games Cam's rookie year...which is why DG should of brought him in earlier if he was going to get him.

He is probably really out of shape I would assume though....

lol wtf? I guess you missed 2011...

What happened with us and Wharton again?

We asked him to take a pay cut, he refused and was cut IIRC.

No the fug he didn't. Wharton was a salary cut when he left. He was very solid for us.

It's nice to have a solid piece back into the line once again, but I worry more about overall chemistry than the individual crappiness of our right side linemen.

Wharton has been out for more than a year now and has two weeks to get into the swing of things. I'm sure he's capable, but I saw of lot of overall bad OL play last week that seemed to scream bad prep/coaching.

We need more linemen, no doubt...but I don't think plugging away and see what fits will solve the problem. It's going to be a rough couple of weeks early in the season until the line can get some cohesion.

Didn't like the idea of letting him go in the first place except for money wise.

Yeah that was a typical Hurney cost cutting move. I don't think Gettleman is done yet either. He's watching the waiver wire. Next year we have to draft some stud o linemen, no more projects like Kugbila please.

Agree. This is not the final move. I fully expect another OL to be brought in. I'm still not denying a Mikell addition.

Who would have thought that a year after letting him walk we'd be so happy to see him again?

Tells you just how atrocious our OL has been. Good needed signing nonetheless.

We cut him because he was due to get about $7m per season under his old deal, not because he sucked. Now...he is costing much less.

At least know what you are talking about.
