Trading Hardy is so logical its almost common sense.

I like the idea, personally.  But he has only shown one year of solid performance.  Give it another year, and THEN use him as trade bait if he performs and we can afford it.  Regardless, I doubt Rivera would be willing to depart from his philosophy--defense first.  From top to bottom, we are an organization that doesn't know what the fug it wants to do.

I get what the OP is saying.  It is my thought that if our O line is just TERRIBLE- SOO BAD as we think it could be  I'd think if we had to trade for a decent OL to shore up our line we would have to trade off our D line or Linebacker group/  or running back..... now take your homer shades of and love of the players to realize that.  If we can't field a  competent O line we most certainly will not win many games..... so if it comes down to it   DL, OLB or RB  we should try to cut a deal..... not saying CJ or Hardy I mean it would be hard let any of these guys go  from any spot mentioned that would be worth trading , but ultimately it would probably be worth it if our online is as bad as advertised so far.  I for one hope we get it fixed without having to make any major moves.

"if you can't tell me EXACTLY what he is worth down to the penny in contract terms and trade compensation then i'm infallibly correct in saying that he's not worth that much!"

lol

At this point, Hardy is nothing more than a 3rd round value. Sure he plays like a 1st round value, but in this market today it's not happening.

Yeah, I think that's about as bad of an assessment as I've read.

Not a top 15 pass rusher? He's easily a top 10 DE. He's stout against the run now that he learned discipline and leverage.

I'd take Hardy right now over both Peppers and CJ for several reasons.

Even the Raiders or Jags would not send us a 1st for Hardy. The man had "one" productive season and he's clearly isn't a top 15 pass rusher. He's no Julius Peppers or even CJ. Hardy is good but IMO he's not capable of being the no.1 pass rusher in this league. A "3rd" is realistic and I'd would take take with no question asked if we sense that Hardy isn't coming back.

What I meant is that Hardy isn't going to get that no1 role kind of money for a DE. Obviously trading for him in his contract year means you're ready to pay the man CJ type of money. Are you willing to give a guy who had only one productive season a 13-15 mil contract? no.

But, I forgot I was in the Huddle forum where every Panthers player is a "Top10" at their position from the fans view.
