Appliance Repair

Maybe I can help you through whatever issue you're having. I've got a pretty good track record of helping folks resolve home improvement/repair issues on here...

The fridge gets cool but never cold. And the freezer gets really bad iceburn which I think is because the rubber seal along the side doesn't seal completely and things melt-freeze-melt consistently.

From what I've read about the fridge is that it's probably a sensor.

The rubber seal is an easy DIY fix once you order the correct replacements. Have you checked the temperature setting for the fridge to see if any changes you make are having any effect? If you change the internal fridge temp control and the temp doesn't seem to be changing, then you're right, there's a sensor going bad.

Ive dealt with a ton of fridge repairs Since I'm pretty handy and it cost so much to repair, it's usually not worthwhile after 75-90 to figure out issue, 25-200 for part with compressor not working or low on freon being worst plus the cost of actual repair.

I can offer some advice if you post model number, but some quick basics. Usually all your air goes to freezer and a little passage toward back middle brings enough air to fridge part to make it cool. If you have ice in freezer, that most probably eliminates most of big stuff, ie compressor, freon, etc. If your fridge is not getting cold and you're getting some melt, what can happen is ice will block the passage from freezer to fridge. I also had this happen when one of my tenant spilled something liquid in freezer and it froze in passage.

If you're getting melt in freezer and your seal is bad, those are fairly cheap and easily replaced, most just snap in perimeter of door after pulling out old one.

Finally, what do you mean by "ice burn"? If you're getting buildup of ice in freezer, it could be a bad defroster assuming its a frost free which almost all are.

One of the easiest things to do without any work is put all your food in cooler with some ice to empty entire fridge, unplug it and leave door open with a fan blowing in it. Give it half a day to defrost completely and clean.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
