Keys to the game vs the Bills.

On offense.

1. No more stalled drives. Too many times this team will move the ball to around midfield and then all of a sudden not be able to convert a third down and cost us a chance to at least attempt a field goal.

2. Control the clock. Our defense was exhausted last week and it showed on that final drive where the Seahawks played keep away. Part of the problem was Russell's scrambling ability, part of it was their repeating of downs because of a hold call, getting them extra opportunities that ultimately didn't help their cause in scoring points but did require more snaps from our Defense.

3. Be willing to take some chances on 4th and short. Obviously this needs to be within reason but if we are just outside of field goal range I'd rather take a chance on converting the first and keeping the drive alive vs punting and gaining 10-20 yards in field position. I wouldn't recommend this every week but their offense does not scare me into thinking those 10 -20 yards will make a huge difference.

On defense.

1. Don't let their run game get going. Stack the box and see what the rookie can do when forced to win the game with his arm.

2. Contain Stevie Johnson and don't leave Captian or Josh Thomas on an island against him.

3. Wrap up and don't let them dink and dunk us all the way down the field. I have a feeling they are going to want to get their running backs out in open space and see if they can break it on us. The linebackers and safeties need to keep an eye on this and make the tackles on first contact.

throw some weird looks at ej manuel - he'll make mistakes. blitz him but beware of his dumpoffs and blitzes designed to take advantage (since that seems to be his game.)

offense needs to score early and often. force manuel to air it out. he'll make mistakes.

special teams... don't be fuging stupid.

do all these and we walk out with a tasty win

oh...if armond smith gets pushed out of bounds again, bench him cause it's only going to happen again.

I still don't understand this. We are so inconsistent with handling underperforming players.

We just cut Joe Adams after only one season, and didn't even flinch.

i wasn't talking about benching him for the whole season, but for the game on special teams...or at least geting him out of that role where he can get pushed. if that happens three times in two games, we have a problem with either him or him being targetted and not being able to handle it.

regardless, it would be a mistake to keep putting him back into a position where things just have a way of going wrong.

When his only job is special teams, skip the benching, say goodbye, and just find someone else to do the job.

The whole reason he was supposedly kept over Poole was because he could contribute on special teams, or so we thought. Unless our idea of contribution is getting ejected, and costing us crucial yards late in the game lol.

We've had a horrific special teams long enough.

    • I have been looking for a dropped pass list and all that comes up is QBs. And team stats. When I do receivers I get the passing stats for a handful that threw passes this year.    I wanted to be accurate but anyhow I was looking because thought I remembered reading where T Mac had more drops than XL this year.  One of you many smarter than me people here,I would appreciate it if you know how to pull that up, please do. Thank you.    And yeah I know that isn’t all there is to it I just thought it was interesting.  Of course what the hell is a drop lol.
    • I agree with this and I think it's worth mentioning too that Bryce is not consistent on his placement and especially velocity and that in large part is driven by his footwork. We all know XL doesn't have the best hands and I don't know that he can overcome that. Cam always had the heater that just hit your hands and sank into your grip, where Bryce has some that are harder thrown, some soft. Bryce stepping into a pass looks so much different than that hop throw thing he does. I think XL really needs to hit the jugs machine and start learning how to catch all these different touch passes. TMac and Coker don't have these issues. If XL doesn't get some work in he's going to be out of the league in the next couple of years.
    • I think most people like XL from a personal standpoint. I don't think he's stupid either. Although if we are being realistic he is lacking in football IQ at this point in time and it cannot be disputed that he has not taken working on his craft seriously at all times given the body of work on the field. It speaks for itself. I myself have defended him at times given the circumstances of our QB room. But he is now in his third year and 25 years old. We are not in a position as a franchise to go around babying anyone especially first round draft picks. He needs to take his position and his football career seriously or he is going to end up selling used cars somewhere. I hope he realizes this and takes an extended break from social media because that mess certainly isn't going to increase his net worth if he ends up out of the league. And these hanger on types will disappear quick too once that money dries up and it surely will eventually. We'll see how he responds.
