If we go 7-9 or 6-10 how would you feel about keeping Rivera if..

The NFL doesn't usually work like that. If the team tanks, top 5 defense or not, Rivera is done in Charlotte.

The only way that I see McD as the HC is if he takes over as the interim HC by "default" during mid-season and has success. This would mean that Rivera and Shula are axed early by G-Man (most likey at the demand of J-Rich).

Rex Ryan? Ringmaster Rex? No thanks. Just say "No."

Rivera being canned is the sum of all my fears because it means that we suck. More importantly it will probably be yet another setback, loss of Smitty's last couple of years, would coincide with Cam's contract year, and may just be the impetus to throw us into virtual organizational football anarchy (joining the likes of the Raiders, Jags, Cards, Chiefs and Lions) for years to come.

The only stat that matters in the NFL is the 'W'.

Rivera has not shown to date that he knows how to consistently get one of those.

His team:

1.   has not shown the ability to pull an upset.

2.   appeared out coached and out maneuvered by better teams.

3.  shown zero ability to execute a winning drive when it matters.

4.   shown the ability to lose to lesser teams as well.  The loss last year to KC would have been enough for me to get rid of him.

5.   shows lack of intelligence and discipline, either by stupid penalties at the worst possible time or the inability to just finish  plays when it is a clutch play.

These are not the characteristics of a winning program no matter what justifications or excuses are given to him.

Winners just do it.  Losers find excuses.  HIs title is HC.  He is absolutely responsible for the DC and OC and ST Coach.  He signs off on the game plan and is responsible for all of it and that includes game time adjustments.  .

Nice guy.  Good DC. Head coach...I guess we'll see and for the time and money I invest in this team, I sincerely hope that I am wrong on everything I said.   8-8 will be nothing short of a miracle for him but it should not be enough to keep him.

Fug that! This team go 0-2 somebody better be on the phone with ole Ronnie boy to tell him, "Mr Richardson wants to speak with you and bring your play book!!!

That call should be from Dave Gettleman. If JR gets involved in who the coach should be, I'll be pissed.

Hire good people, and let them do their jobs.

Yep. One of those situations where you don't know who the real mastermind is. Same question applies to Greg Roman, honestly.

My personal opinion: I don't think McDermott's ready to be in charge of an entire program.

Looking back, he was actually my top choice along with Dennison for HC before we picked Rivera
