Cam has to feel trapped on a terrible football team

Its funny how somepeople pin wins and loses solely on the qb. Im 41 and ive only seen a qb throw a pass to himself once or twice(ball was deflected back to him) and ive never seen one block for himself. Measuring a qb strictly by wins is foolish at best

its done  all the time

literally

and nobody expects him t throw it to himself or block for himself... that is stupid.  What we expect is for him to lead, show improvement, be his best in clutch situations.

these qualities in and of themselves ae what leadership is all about.  And leadership is how a QB directs a team to a success.

some people have to be told about these things.  I understand

well let's give him a pass then. The way you say it, he's done all he can do.

I know you think that your logic makes sense but it doesn't. This country is full of losers who blame poo on other people. I don't think Cam is one of those guys really I just think he's in over his head. You are making excuses for him he would never agree with. In the end he's a good guy. He's just not going to be an elite QB. that is shitty luck for us and a horrible situation for him. It looks to be the case none the less (IMO)

Its not blame it is just reality. In some of those games the D kept us in those games and Cam didn't play well overall. But we arent talking about stats I thought we are talking about wins right? After all there were several Colts games where Luck didnt have great performances but got wins. If Luck performed better than he may not have needed fourth quarter comebacks.

This is about wins. And for whatever reason the Colts were able to hold leads and we have struggled.

That is just facts. Cam can get better. He is not perfect. But your basis of argument has been about wins and fourth quarter comebacks so was talking about that specifically. And if Cam had like kind support those things would look differently.

lol is there nothing more pathetic than a guy who results to lame recycled e-quips to try and defend himself?

amusing that you've gone from so adamantly trying to justify it to outright denying it now

justifying what?

denying what?

you have made some pretty bold accusations on here and you cannot seem to back them up.  I know you can't because what you say simply is not true but I thought at least you would show me where I posted something that confused you or where you took something wrong.

but no

you have nothing. You are just making blind accusations.  My guess is because you are mad.  Not sure at what exactly though.

anyway I think we all understand your defense mechanism now.  its of course as shameful as shame gets but I don't think anybody expected all that much from you in the first place so don't take it too hard.

you are arguing every minute detail of the facts and ignoring the elephant in the room.  I don't give a poo about Luck.  I did not bring him into this.

But he is better.  You can warp the situations and facts and what-if's into a scenario that makes you feel better about Cam if yoiu want to.  That is your right.  Go for it.

If you need to do all that though, doesn't that at least say something.   Nobody outside of the Panther fan base would take Cam over Luck today.  In Charlotte or in Indy.  wins-stats-come backs-playoffs-defense-coaches... you talk about that all you want.  Apparently you need it for some reason.  I don't.  I know what I see.  It's not close.

I would love to put Anderson in for a half, just so we can see what we have.

Could be a wake up call for the entire offense too. I know Reid did the same thing with McNabb.

I'm not putting all the blame on Cam, but sometimes you need a lite a fire under somebody's a** and a move like this often makes the guys in the locker room look at each other.

Go through all what? It is just simple facts.

Doesn't mean Cam has been perfect.

I will wait and see on Luck. So far he has had stats similar to Marc Sanchez who also has a bunch of wins and fourth quarter comebacks.

TheRed thinks 70% of the huddle is racist (to be fair something like 20% of them probably are)

that being said your posts are truly awful and make me reconsider the existence of god

it isn't just TheRed this time, I'm referring to his comments that he doesn't believe Cam is smart enough to play in this league because he talks too urban for carolinarolls taste

in his defense he doesnt believe eli manning is smart enough to be a good QB either so it's entirely possible he's just extraordinarily stupid rather than a bigot and that ive seen enough now to come to this realization

    • I think his stats will depend on the development of the rookies and sophomore receivers, which isn't totally under is control. The eye test is a different story. Has to consistently look the part before you decide to pay him Purdy money.
    • Interestingly I think we have kind of of gone through this as an organization. Richardson implemented an FO driven tank. Bad roster, no cash spent, coach uninterested. It may have been for different reasons but I think the results were the same. A team that wasn't going to win many if any games. We ended up with the #1 pick. Cam Newton came in and changed the franchise. It worked, but Cam himself pointed to the losing culture in the locker room needing to be changed. It probably took about 2-3 years for that to happen. Tank worked pretty damn well for us. Cam is one of one. Not another like him, everyone can't deliver on his draft status AND change a culture basically on his own.  So as an exercise here are the last 30 #1 picks. If you tanked and got to pick #1 how many of these guys do you think were worth it? Not just good players, but franchise changers. Guys who will take your culture and shift it so the tank was actually worth it. I would say maybe 9 or 10 guys would be worth a tank, pending the last 5 picks?    2025: Cam Ward (Miami (FL)) - Tennessee Titans 2024: Caleb Williams (USC) – Chicago Bears 2023: Bryce Young (Alabama) – Carolina Panthers 2022: Travon Walker (Georgia) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2021: Trevor Lawrence (Clemson) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2020: Joe Burrow (LSU) – Cincinnati Bengals 2019: Kyler Murray (Oklahoma) – Arizona Cardinals 2018: Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma) – Cleveland Browns 2017: Myles Garrett (Texas A&M) – Cleveland Browns 2016: Jared Goff (California) – Los Angeles Rams 2015: Jameis Winston (Florida State) – Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2014: Jadeveon Clowney (South Carolina) – Houston Texans 2013: Eric Fisher (Central Michigan) – Kansas City Chiefs 2012: Andrew Luck (Stanford) – Indianapolis Colts 2011: Cam Newton (Auburn) – Carolina Panthers 2010: Sam Bradford (Oklahoma) – St. Louis Rams 2009: Matthew Stafford (Georgia) – Detroit Lions 2008: Jake Long (Michigan) – Miami Dolphins 2007: JaMarcus Russell (LSU) – Oakland Raiders 2006: Mario Williams (North Carolina State) – Houston Texans 2005: Alex Smith (Utah) – San Francisco 49ers 2004: Eli Manning (Mississippi) – San Diego Chargers 2003: Carson Palmer (USC) – Cincinnati Bengals 2002: David Carr (Fresno State) – Houston Texans 2001: Michael Vick (Virginia Tech) – Atlanta Falcons 2000: Courtney Brown (Penn State) – Cleveland Browns 1999: Tim Couch (Kentucky) – Cleveland Browns 1998: Peyton Manning (Tennessee) – Indianapolis Colts 1997: Orlando Pace (Ohio State) – St. Louis Rams 1996: Keyshawn Johnson (USC) – New York Jets 1995: Ki-Jana Carter (Penn State) – Cincinnati Bengals
