Is Giants game Rivera's last stand?

I'm not up to speed on Charlotte sports talk radio, but I put on (the drive, maybe?) on radio.com today. One of the hosts (I don't know how credible they are) said a source in the organization had told him that if we lose on Thursday, Ron will not be coach on Monday. Has anyone heard anything like that?

I'm not one to hope for a loss for any reason, but if this is true, I'm finding it difficult to hope they win. I'm terrified of a late season winning streak after we're out of play off contention saving his job. I'll find it difficult until kick off on Sunday. Then I'll be right back in front of my tv yelling like a maniac while my wife gives me odd looks.

Thoughts?

While I think RR is not a great HC, maybe a good DC....I can not wish for my panthers to lose....I still think we have a good shot at this season...win this game and we're 1-2...then string together some wins...AZ, Rams, Vikings, Bucs....hell we're 5-2 or 4-3 with a realistic one loss during that stretch....it could happen....KEEP POUNDING!!!!

Nope. I've been around long enough to know our franchise shows no mercy to its fans. They will drag us kicking and screaming all the way past the mid point of the season with various reports of the temperature of RR seat. As the trigger is set to be pulled we win 2 or 3 straight, halting the process only to be blown out the last 2 games. Rivera will unceremoniously be fired on black Monday, fans will scream "finally!!!"and then the next never heard of him coach will show up and dick us all.

    • There is a Grand Canyon-sized chasm between your opinion and the opinions of most former player hockey guys who do this for a living.
    • I can only imagine the **** eating grins on the committee right now. "Oh, Bama didn't deserve it? Oh, Miami didn't deserve it? Suck it, haters!" lol
    • To say that, is gaslighting, because it isn’t true. I mean, maybe one or two people do that but it isn’t the predominant behavior. Even Frank has given him credit. I think particularly the Rams game. A couple of glowing posts.   I know I have. Gotta be honest about it because if you aren’t it undermines what else you say.  But the degree of how far I go with credit, in terms of it being a projection of future performance? Not very far. Acknowledge it, but require more of it. There is a lot of bad play to offset.    I tried to remain passive while the last 9 games (post ankle injury) played out. It is just really hard when the lows won’t go away. I failed. As high as a couple of those highs were, there isn’t enough.    I know it is premature to just say I want to move on, made my decision after 6 of those games ended up pretty much really good or not good enough, but I have had enough of being patient and letting him show the reality either way.  So in my view, he Could still validate himself to a decent degree if he smokes the last three starts. But also in my view I don’t expect to see it. Maybe one more high quality start, would be my expectation. So yes he could still somehow justify having the job next year. If that happened I still wouldn’t have much faith given the last three years and all that has transpired. Again, there is a lot of bad play to offset.
