The only way Rivera gets fired

Is if they decide to revert back to their ways of the last two games. It's blatantly obvious that since maybe he realizes playing close games isn't to his strong suit, he went for the slitting of the throat today. That was felt with Ginn's last TD. I attended the game today. Giants fans were classy. i just really wish this happened to Atlanta, New Orleans, Tampa, Dallas, Pittsburgh or New England, rather than the Giants. It just sucks the momentum can't be carried over to next week. With our upcoming opponents, if we play like this, there's no reason we shouldn't win out up to the Atlanta game (then win that one b/c they suck).

Is it just me that can't stand that there were many members on here cringing with every TD we scored, wanting us to badly lose?

I don't see how today's game could be anything other than pure bliss....

I hope that Rivera has finally found his missing piece, that something internally has clicked and that he is going to lead us the Playoffs this year and many more..... but for now I'll just take this week's win.

I still feel this game was an anomaly. We've had a few of these before in the Rivera era and I think we'll be back to business as usual in two weeks (playing down to the level of the competition and making costly mistakes late in games).

I don't dislike Rivera, he seems sincere and hardworking but as a fan I want results. If this is a turning point for Rivera and the Panthers, great, but I'm highly skeptical.

Even in this game we had the muffed punt return and Cam's INT. I don't want to sound too harsh in a 38-0 win, but the defense also absolutely dominated Seattle early and the team let the game stay close and manageable. They did the same for much of the first half against the Giants. Luckily they had a TD called back and missed a FG.

This team just doesn't play tough or with a since of purpose. Nobody is perfect and you're not going to capitalize on exceptional defensive performances every time, but this team is the opposite, they always open the door for their opponents to come back.

It's disgusting to watch most weeks.

This sums up all my thoughts here. Great post

if this game doesn't stand out as a statistical outlier when we look back from week 17 then yeah, he stays.

remember tom coughlin was piloting an 0-2 giants team in 2007 and widely considered to be on the verge of being fired before turning a corner with the team, both in the lockerroom and as a gameday manager, all of which was sparked by beating the redskins and starting on a red-hot tear fueled by a punishing defensive line and the elevated play of their much-maligned young quarterback.

you just never know

Oh, no doubt I am enjoying this. But i'm hoping he realized what everyone on this team is capable of today. Let cam be cam. If he makes his reads and there's nothing there, let his ass run.. Drayton Florence is the best shutdown corner to come off of a couch. Why he was cut and Fua resigned, i'll never know. What decent runs the Giants had in the second half is b/c they ran literally right at Fua. Also, Peyton had negative passing yards for most of the first half, and we actually had -11 in the first quarter. Shula adjusted his playcalling, which hasn't been done in the previous two games. Take the damn shackles off.

OK, maybe we don't fire him now, but I'd be searching for his replacement now, so I can fire him at the end of the season. I don't want a coach that has to be threatened to coach, to actually coach. And not just coach, but coached a shut out of the NYG. His game plan worked this game, but if it hadn't worked, this game would've been much like the last two or worse because he can't alter his game plan during the game. Ron Rivera is not a good HC.

Steve Smith said on FNZ today that if you think RR's demeanor on the sidelines is not confrontational enough with players who screw up (weren't his exact words, but that's the gist of it), think again.  He doesn't buy into singling out guys in front of everyone on the sideline in game, but in the locker room, he can be a very different person when need be.  Smith said RR's done plenty of "dog cussing" when deserved.  FWIW.

    • Bryce just didn't maximize Hunter Renfrow's skills. ***rant incoming*** But this isn't just about Bryce Young mistiming passes to Renfrow so bad that he's going to get Renfrow killed or hurt, this is also about incompetentence by Dave Canales. Renfrow can still play. He's putting DBs in a blender out there---making them play twister at the top of routes to keep up with him, and dumb Dave has the nerve to cut him. How about putting Hunter in the best position to help the damned offense by appreciating his skill set, DC? You're letting Bryce's apparent inability to make an accurate throw, or at least his timidity to push the ball down the damned field cloud your judgment and miscalculate talent---or maybe just miss on talent just as much as Bryce misses passes due to playing pussified football. It's fúcking unacceptable.  Speaking of misjudgment, I don't know if it's Dan Morgan or Canales, but Eijiro Evero is not the business at DC. I have said a few times that his scheme is not conducive to run-stopping efficiency. Hell, and after watching some clips of plays, now I absolutely know why. The gaps are at least half open before the play even fúcking starts. You are setting the opposition's RBs up for success with too much damned space at the line and in the second level. If our guys are taken out in these areas---at the line and in the second level---then the defense is screwed because it must rely on the safeties to cover too much ground to make the tackle. At least put Ransom in who is motivated to seek and destroy if you're going to effectively leave the safeties on an island.  And speaking of rookies, get our two new defensive ends more snaps to see if we can't generate more of a pass rush. For all the good the continued sorry display of defense that you're putting out for fan's to see (Ejiro, Dave and Dan), you may as well get the rookies generously involved. Fúck that money we gave second-rate (maybe second-rate) vets, we need a damned spark getting after the QB. Watch it, it's just another breakdown of the sh¡t we were subjected to last week. I say this with all respect: Fúck you, Dave! Fúck you, Dan! Learn how to run a fúcking franchise. Maximize the players, regardless of what you think you're supposed to do by the book. Cut the dead weight before another season is lost and fans lose interest in September. EE is "Ew!" Or for emphasis "EEw!" /end rant
    • But nobody is saying he is a good deep ball passer.  But the facts are since he's returned from his benching, he has been throwing downfield.  Whether you want to credit the scheme, Bryce himself, or whatever, he has been pushing it deep.  Not to any positive results mind you, but it has been happening.
