Did Newton play well today... you tell me

Mixed bag today. Made some crucial mistakes so you can't say he played well, but he also made some big time plays and we moved the ball fairly well overall.

But it wasn't like he was just awful out there.

But no, he didn't play well. It seemed like no one played well enough today except the defense.

he was lights out in the first half until that stupid throw to steve that PP21 picked off in the endzone. steve had him beat by 5 yards and cam horribly underthrew it.

Unless PP21's arms are 15 feet long than he couldn't of had him beat by 5 yards because PP21 had a hand on him the whole time.

Bad throw though

Other than the INT, I thought he played very well in the 1st half.  I thought he played very poorly in the 2nd half.  Then again, our coaching staff did a very poor job of countering the adjustments the Chiefs made in the 2nd half.  The 2nd half was just an embarrassment.  That's pretty much the story of the Ron Rivera error... uh, I mean "era".

This.  Smitty has to stop lobbying so much for the ball.  Try catching the ones thrown your way first.  A couple of years ago, Smitty single covered deep was a shot you take.  These days, Smitty single covered by one of the best CBs in the league isn't a shot that you take.  That's just the reality.

maybe 5 yards is exaggerating, but it literally happened right in front of my seats, steve had him beat and if it was a better thrown ball i think its an easy TD

He played amazing the first half, but then the offense as a whole had a fuging meltdown in the second half... I have no idea what the hell happened in that locker room at half time, but the team came out flat as hell the second half.  And that's probably an understatement.

    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
    • According to Scott Fowler, in an article about former Panthers announcer applying for a job with the Ravens... what that job pays, incidentally, when the Ravens posted it publicly they said the salary would be $4,000 to $5,000 per game. An NFL season consists of 20-24 games, including the preseason and potential playoff games, so it will end up somewhere between $80,000 and $120,000 a year. The person hired will be an independent contractor, which is commonplace in the NFL these days for team broadcasters, and also have other radio and TV hosting assignments.  https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article315839800.html
