Armanti Edwards Cut

I am not a DG fan....never have been.

I think DG will be the end of Newton. Not right away but he will bring in a traditional coach who believes in playing ball his old school way.....Newton doesn't fit that. Will cause him to struggle. Need a new school and open mind willing to go down I chartered roads for Newton to succeed. RR IMO was open to it....which was good. RR while having flaws got handcuffed with a bad GM in Hurney in created too many holes and then GMan had no interest.

Only thing is the Cowhers, the Grudens, Dungy. All love Cam. Cam is so physically gifted that you can't bring a Mike Glennon in to compete with him. Cam is going to make him look like garbage on the practice field.

I don't understand this move at all. We have to have wide receiver depth somewhere. Are there really better options in free agency?

You realize that Armanti has zero receptions right.

You could put Tolbert out there at WR and have at least the same result.

I got to give it to him though. AE got the most out of his three years (plus) here. What does he have, like a catch for every year? Oh, excuse me a catch and a quarter.

Damn. I can literally count AE's catches on one hand.

Yeah, what is wrong with those people that supported a Panthers player.

He's gone now, no sense crying about it. But being a dick and calling out people who supported him while here is just lame.

Damn, Red. Sentimentality? I didn't know you had it in you.      LOL

I've tried to back every Panthers player, there have been a few obvious exceptions though of course. He isn't one. What makes me sick in all this though is the missed opportunities we've had to acquire a top receiver. Now Steve Smith is 34 and Lafell is showing little improvement.

I'm in that hospital ward, err psycho ward, with you (sick), but no need crying over spilled milk. Now we can look towards the future with much anticipation, if not expectation.

That should have been asked, and answered, about 5-6 weeks ago (maybe 2-3 years and 5-6 weeks ago).

It's become pretty clear to me that Rivera has a soft spot for those players who aren't as talented but 'work really hard'. That's why you wind up with someone like Captain Munnerlyn starting and guys like Sione Fua, Armond Smith and Armanti Edwards taking up roster spots.

Don't get me wrong. Those guys are great to have around, but sometimes the sad truth is that no matter how hard they work, those guys just aren't good enough.

This is what I believe Rivera fails to accept, and it'll be what ultimately does him in.

I think you'll recall this is exactly what I said in the Gettis thread when people were loling about it, and I think you were among them.

Oh please, don't play an angel now. You used Gettis getting cut as an excuse to drag Armanti through the mud and ridicule him. I supported Gettis too. What I didn't support were the people touting him and shitting all over Armanti and others just to make Gettis seem better.

We wanted and received a blood sacrifice in Armanti Edwards....you have placated us for a week Panthers

I was thinking that this was an excellent time to release Armanti. Things are so fuged up, that his release is like a blip on the radar (even for APP State Panther Guy).

To me this is a real indictment of the coaching staff.  They proclaim the guy the camp MVP, then don't give him more than a handful of snaps once the season starts. I know he was recovering from a bad hammy, but if that's why he hasn't been on the field, you don't cut him.

Either way, like everyone else I am scratching my head at the timing of the cut.

I wish him the best and hope he's successful in the future.

I'm pissed off at Rivera and Gman!!!! Fire their asses!!!!!!!!!!!! AE was one of the few great pieces on this team. Edwards was the damn MVP in Training Camp! Watch him go to another team and become a Pro Bowler. Im done with this team.   :)

god if only

CC, you set yourself up for that. Sorry, dude, that's funny.

    • I don't think Dave touches the defense. That might be a mark against him but definitely a huge red flag for evero. He refuses to run anything other than soft zone and when you don't get pressure that's an awful scheme
    • You don't have to convince me. I think not picking up the option should absolutely be firmly on the table but I just do not see Tepper and Morgan doing that for previously stated reasons. Therefore I'm not going to bother entertaining the notion. Just hoping we actually get real viable competition. If that doesn't happen at the minimum then my perception of that is complete and utter professional malpractice.
    • It was absolutely a catch, and I can’t believe how many folks were stating, before the NFL’s apology, that the overturn was the right call.  The ultimate question in this case is this: can a player complete a catch with only one hand? Of course, we all know the answer to that question, and it is an emphatic “Yes.” T-Mac maintained complete control with one hand (believe it was the right) while the other came off when the ball hit the ground. The ball was in the same position in the one hand (watch T-Mac’s fingers in relation to the NFL shield on the ball) after touching the ground as it was when it first went to the ground. Going back to the question above, if one hand can establish control, then there was no need for the other to stay on the ball, so long as the ball doesn’t move in that one hand that stays on it   It blew my mind that they overturned this in the first place. This should not be a “We got it wrong on the replay because there wasn’t clear and convincing evidence.” This should have been, “That was absolutely a catch.”
