Question for Parents

Okay, so for you parents, when you transferred your young one from a crib to a bed, did you use a toddler bed as the next step or just a bed low to the ground? My kid is way past due to get out of her crib, but due to the craziness that has been my life for the last 18 months, a lot of things slipped through the cracks. I'm trying to get my life caught back up and one to-do is to move the kid out of a crib. I don't know whether I should bother with a toddler bed or just go to a low set bed so I don't have to buy another one next year. She really doesn't move around much at night. What did you parents do when moving kids out of the crib?

Just buy the little rail joint that goes under the mattress. Then you dont buy 2 beds for 1 crumbsnatcher

Since my kids are 22 months apart, and my wife and I didn't feel like buying another crib when our daughter was born, my son got put into a bed before the age of 2.  We got a low set bed, pushed it into the corner of his room and then got a mesh rail that was shaped like the letter "L" and you slid the bottom part under the mattress and the rail gurded the one side of the bed.  We left an opening near the foot of his bed and put a little foam stepon the ground for him to get in and out of bed.  He did great.  I honestly wouldn't bother with a toddler bed, just one more expense.  Get them used to a big bed from the start.  The mattress was pretty firm and there wasn't a boxspring, just a flat plank of wood that went under the mattress.

we have gotten cribs that convert to toddler beds that will convert to adult beds. Has been well worth it.  We went to toddler beds at 18 months for each of them.  The boy started acting up, so we put him back in the crib.

God I'm old.  I honestly don't remember how we transitioned our kids from the crib to the bed.  I wanna say we just got a regular single mattress/box spring and used those bed rail things... almost positive that's what we did with both of em.

This is a good way to go.

 

But, DO NOT ever buy just a toddler bed.  They will outgrow it too quickly.
