Our 27th ranked pass offense comes down to not enough playmakers

top dawg

In what catagory are we 27th?

We're 3rd in yards given up.

2nd in TD's given up (only stat that really matters)

We're 18th in sacks- which sucks for us.

We're tied for 7th in INT's.

So, what exactly is your complaint? Please tell me it isn't completion percentage, that would be stupid.

Pass OFFENSE, JOA.

you're looking at the wrong side of the ball i believe.  this is just another whiny bitchy thread where someone is complaining about lack of wr's.

We have WRs, most of which would not be befitting of a starting position on true contenders, but are apparently good enough for pretenders.

It makes sense that our passing attack is ranked low in yards because we are also 29th in attempts.  Some of that is the fact we played one less game but it is also due to the fact that we pass less than other teams.  Plain and simple.  We are balanced as opposed to teams that pass every down.  So why is our yards per game also down this year?  Much of that is due to a lower yards per pass average and taking much fewer shots down field.  In the past we had one of the highest yards per pass attempt and one of the highest yards per pass average.  Is Cam different because Shula isn't letting him play or because he has to find the check down more often because opposing teams are blitzing more often this year and the o-line hasn't held up that well.

Smith would be good anywhere, Ginn is proving he should have gotten more looks elsewhere and Lafell is getting back to form. Olsen is a great TE and we have guys like Tolbert and Williams out of the backfield.  Given we are not going to pass on every down, exactly how many passes are there left to go around?  We could use one more great receiver to take pressure off of Smith and replace him when he retires.  Otherwise I think the "most" characterization is way overblown.

I think AZ had a great run D and made us one dimensional.....hence the passing yards being up.  If WRs caught balls early.....we could of stomped them passing.

The OL is holding the offense back, end of story.

I think this is spot on.

We have enough skill players at RB, WR, TE, and QB.

WR's are not an all-pro group, but Smitty, LaFell, and Ginn are definitely enough to get it done.

DWill, Stew, Barner, and Tolbert make a stellar backfield.

Olsen is a great TE....hope Williams can be that #2 TE that we need.

Cam does have the weapons....what we need is an upgrade and infusion on the OL.  Better run and pass blocking would really open this offense up.

we make things hard on ourselves.  OL is a prime example.

also, living in the past w/ 89 makes it hard on Cam.   Basically our primary WR is a 5 ft something possession WR.  That doesn't really mesh w/ Cam's style and strength's either.

Smitty is our only sure stater on another team. Lafell  "getting back to form" is funny as hell (LOL). When he strings together more than three games (perhaps two) of 100 yard performances, then you may have an argument there---a shaky one, at that. His form is doing well for three, maybe four games a year. The NFL has waited on Ginn for going on  eight years to break out.  So, no, I don't think that "most" is overblown.

Regardless of these posts

1st pick this year should be WR. Watch we ONCE AGAIN don't do it and every Panther fan won't have a problem with it

only problem is we won't have a LT or RT or RG of starting caliber on the roster...

    • I have no idea why you are so irrationally upset about the notion that going out and spending $150 million free agency dollars on two interior offensive linemen could be construed as a panic response after our #1 pick we traded a fortune for had one of the worst rookie seasons of the last 25 years. It is objectively what transpired. Dan Morgan as of right now is a mixed bag. Some really good some so so some not so good some bad some really bad. You take any rational criticism personally like you are related to him or something. That's something you'll have to figure out for yourself. Anyways. The predicament Dan Morgan finds himself in for this year will define his future as GM. I sincerely hope he navigates it to perfection. But the circumstances are largely of his own creation. And not just in his stint as GM but going back to his time as assistant GM. Which conveniently people like yourself don't like to talk about. That is the reality of the situation. I like how you will carry water for Dan Morgan to the point of getting into random spats with people but make no mention of Bryce Young's glaring limitations and shortcomings as a starting QB yet go out of your way to put the onus of our struggles squarely on Canales. I mean I've been quite critical of Canales too but he sure isn't the only one to blame for our problems.
    • They weren't well thought out. We needed one, not both. 2 top center/guard candidates were going to be available in the 2nd. We would have been fine with JPJ or Frazier. Drafting either over XL or Brooks would have made perfect sense. Hell, drafting both would have made sense even if we had signed Lewis or Hunt. Instead we drafted a 1 year wonder project WR and a luxury RB that we didn't need since we had Hubbard. Draft IOL, pay tackles. Plenty of 2nd round guards and centers start immediately and play very well. Those 2 picks were not good then, now, no matter how much explaining anyone tries to do. Several of called it then.
    • I have no problems with difference of opinions.  Difference of perspective.  Perspective is everything.   The statement you made was false. Period. So sorry that you don't like me calling it out.  Frankly, Frank,  I gave up on seeing anything eye to eye with you when I was a much younger man.  Nothing I said was a personal insult, so get over yourself.  As far as comparing rosters.  I just dont give a fug.  There are no 2 rosters in this league that are built the same as far talent and contracts. Every team is on their own journey.  Is our passing offense far from desired? Yes, we can agree on that part, but not on why it has struggled.  I wish we could easily just drsft all the talent we need, the the NFL doesn't,  and hasn't worked that way.  Dan Morgan did a fantastic job at bringing in talent along the line, and retaining talent along the line. We needed it also, as we used every bit of the depth we had, most of the season.  Unfortunately we were relying on a receivers room that their average age is less than my oldest son, and that is NEVER a recipe for success for the group.  The constant shuffle at online was horrible. Despite how horrible it was, our online actually performed well above expectations for what they went through.  We also need our play caller to attempt to stick to an offensive identity.   Unfortunately,  Dave C. didn't do that, for whatever reason.  Hell, the online was the highlight of our offense this season. Wished the rest of the offense performed as consistent.  He'll, wish our defense performed that consistent.  I'll give you credit, for not dropping to your expected behavior in your response.  Congratulations.  Have a goodnight.
