Cam throwing on the run...

I noticed last week when Cam escaped pressure and got outside the pocket he made a throw downfield that was no where close to it's intended target.  I also remember during the preseason he rolled out and threw down field to an open Smith and damn near threw a pick over Smith's head.  It got me thinking, is throwing on the run just not a strength of Cam's?

You would think the Panthers would try to utilize bootlegs and movement to help negate the poor blocking at times as well as slowing down the rush.  But we rarely do this.  I know Cam has made great passes on the run at times but I just don't think it's his forte.  Watching Wilson tonight made me realize how ineffective Cam is at making these throws.  Other QB's who are good at this include Aaron Rodgers, Big Ben, and Steve Young was probably one of the best, it just adds a different dynamic to their games.

So to review, not bashing Cam, just wondering if anyone else noticed this and if you had clips from games that could disprove it and make me feel differently.

Your memory is selective.

I distinctly remember a perfectly placed touchdown throw he made to Steve Smith on the run against Oakland last year.

That was a pretty pass.

Cam throwing on the run is not a strength like it is for Wilson (all the baseball helped that) but I wouldn't call it a glaring weakness.

Panthers win the next three ball games and Cam will be the best <fill in the blank> in the league and your nitpicking (along with mine) will go the way of the dinosaur.

He's not bad, not great/amazing.

Wilson can make some insane throws on the run. A lot of people say they are just miracle throws but when he's been doing it consistently you can't deny the kid has a knack for it.

I'll keep saying it if we didn't have Cam I would want RW.

Yeah I can't pull up the highlight on my phone, but I remembered it because at the time I said "wow, that was a hell of a pass". Overall I think Cam can make any kind of throw you ask him to, he's just had to work on doing it consistently, but he's definitely learning.

Cam absolute can throw on the run but I don't think he has good enough footwork to do it consistently.  Wilson doesn't either btw, he has a tendency to throw floaters on the run.  If you watch someone like Rodgers you'll see damn near perfect footwork whether he's in stride or has to stop and plant.

It'll come for Cam in time.  The guy is only 24 years old.  He has quite a few little things he needs to polish and there's no reason to think he won't in time.

you don't have to lazer throws to make accurate throws on the run. His floaters work. He is a great thrower on the run.

I humbly disagree.

    • This season only ends one way... We win this Sunday. Bryce is decent. We take back 1st place...   Only to then get our brakes blown off in the last two weeks.
    • Here's one of the most maddening things, that will be shown in full light over the next three weeks. The same people around here that called Darnold a bum and Mayfield a washed up over draft are also the ones saying Bryce is a catastrophe. Yeah, and I've been one who said Bryce wasn't big enough, brave enough or capable enough. I said back in the day that Darnold had a lot of fight in him and got shouted down. And on Mayfield, heck I didn't know, I just knew we had a very, very bad team that was run terribly. But I saw both of those guys go out there and resurrect their careers and be play-off bound since shaking the Carolina clay dust off their cleats. And we sat there and cat called their cars as they pulled out of the parking lot, laughing at what nobodies they were. Over the next three weeks, those two guys may just serve us sh!t sandwiches and then settle down to their just desserts. And then we'll probably let Bryce go off into the realm of other teams. And when that happens, will we see him coming back, better than before and we're left to re-sit this cycle all over again? Same naysayers, same results, same revolving carousel of ponies and pundits?  Will we end up looking like the Temu version of the San Diego Chargers back in the day watching Drew Brees come to fruition in the previously moribund Superdome while we whiff on a Manning pick just to be jilted for Phillip "Always a Bridesmaid" Rivers?
