On the Chris Long Ejection

It is all over the media. Chris Long had bottles thrown at him as he walked out of Bank of America stadium. Even Terry Bradshaw has called Panthers fans stupid for the incident.

The real story is not so clear cut.

You see, I am the guy that is seen walking behind Long as he was ejected. I took great note of what was happening, after all, its not every game that a player is ejected and forced to do the walk of shame across the home crowd.

My best description of Chris Long's demeanor was that he thought he was a pro wrestler. With his helmet off, he cursed the fans with expletives while making direct eye contact with them.

The first bottle thrown at him landed just a few feet from me. It was an empty aluminum beer bottle. The second bottle thrown near the tunnel was a water bottle,

I spoke with two police officers who were investigating the incident and trying to identify the first bottle throwing offender. Apparently he would be ejected from the game.

Chris Long then took to Twitter to complain about bottlegate...

Chris Long @JOEL9ONE 13h

Thanks Carolina fans 4 the flipped birds+few bottles to the head. Sticks n stones may break my bones but aluminum zimas will never hurt me.

Pretty funny actually.

While the throwing of the bottles should not have happened, Long deserves some of the blame that it did. You cannot expect to walk three feet from a large group of fired up football fans and shout expletives to them without any repercussion.

To avoid the entire situation next time, Chris, keep your helmet on and your mouth closed. I suspect there would be a better result.

I thought the route he took & the way he was walking/carrying himself was going to lead to something like that.. funny how Terry defended him, if I'm Howie Longs kid, I'm not getting caught up in this with fans. Its not like he was minding his business heading towards the exit. He did confront the fans, then the following action ensued. Bradford being carted off didn't lead to a wave of cheers (which has happened to other QBs in home/road games) and I thought it was classy that they didn't.

Exactly the Reason why I threw gum at Jim Cornett, manager of the Midnight Express and it stuck in the back of his hairsprayed hair back in 88!

Don't call the Fayetteville Memorial Arena a bunch of dumb rednecks!! I will protect thee.

I assume The few bottles thrown at him were only in protection as he seemed like he would jump into the crowd Ron Artest style at any moment.

What really upsets me about this whole thing.....is Chris Long did get ejected therefore he did something to warrant it.   I thought I saw a punch thrown but of course none of the media thus far as slowed down the incident to reveal this or reject it totally.  Bradshaw and Howie should know first hand that for a player to get ejected he was involved in something.  To call a whole fan base classless because of two individuals in a crowd of 50,000 to 60,000 is asinine in my opinion.  Maybe Chris Long shouldn't get in situtations such as that one and those problems wouldn't happen.  Maybe he should of kept his helmet on and just walked to his locker room or actually run to his locker room as many other players who did get ejected do especially when away from home.  What a classless idiot, and to curse at the crowd on his way out......seriously.....talking about class.....at least the guys in the stands have a semi excuse, they've been drinking.....they're pumped up.....you just took a cheap shot at one of our players.....I swear.....I understand defending your buddies but when you're on national TV you have to remember what you're saying and actually think before you talk.  I've met both Bradshaw and Howie Long a few times just a Hello when I've seen them out, not that I know them.....and you would think they would have a little more sense but I guess not.  I have lost total respect for both as of now.  KEEP POUNDING!!!!

Zod, He's claiming he was pointing to who threw the garbage, any chance that's true from your perspective on the field?

Might be, he didn't start pointing until something was thrown at him.

He started yelling and cursing at the crowd well before then though.

    • Why? AI already taking jobs, running up power bills, drinking all the water and just bad for the environment but hey lest try to shoehorn another useless way to use it.
    • I'm going rogue in R1 but there's so much confusion around us. Last year, we were going Walker or Williams and caught folks off guard with TMac. The previous year we LOVED Legette and it was no surprise when his name was called. This year, I think we nail three areas that weren't totally addressed in FA.  R1 - Kayden McDonald Full disclosure, I want Thienemann here, but think he goes before 19. Some might see an "overdraft" but McDonald unlocks so many people on our D. Having a DT the caliber of McDonald let's Lloyd, Wallace and the newly drafted Hill flood the offensive backfield. Also opens up Moehrig and our EDGES to eat. Lastly, it also removes all the pressure on DB to be the primary facilitator in the trenches and A'Shawn will be missed. I don't care about Turk. McDonald is the only true DT worth of a R1 grade and Morgan seals up our trenches here w/ a kid from a blue blood school. R2 - Anthony Hill Jr *trade up*  I love JRod, but think a smart team takes him at the end of R1 (Seattle, NE w/ two d-minded coaches). Hill, Jr is a beast and lost in the shuffle with all the Styles/Allen/Rodriguez hype. He and Lloyd with DB and McDonald up front and flanked by Scourton/Phillips is nasty.  R3 - Hecht/Lew/Center du jour Let's stop the madness with ignoring this position in the draft. We need one and should start normalizing the capital invested in our OL with someone on a draft contract. He won't need to start day 1, but I think the right selection will push for starter reps. R4 - Bud Clark Not sure if he's here in R4 where we pick, but would fit the "type" of FS/roamer that we need opposite Moehrig and Ransom. Allows us to run 3-safety looks and really keep teams guessing with personnel packages. R5 - Kendrick Law The kind of WR we need. IDK if he's any different than Horn, Jr or Metchie but Law could be a dart throw that brings a deep threat to our WR corps I'm guessing one of the R5 picks is used to move up in R2 along with a '27 day 3 pick.   Post-draft, I sign Njoku to bring in a vet at TE. I'm also keeping my eyes open for pre-week 1 team cuts for a young CB that we could bring in to maybe plan for Mike Jack's departure next year. Flame away.... I know the McDonald pick will not make people happy.
