Jonathon Martin

Could be, but he went to the GM before he left to complain specifically about Incognito. He didn't make it up after the fact.

Welp, forget all of that conjecture I just typed on then, lol.

I didn't know anything regarding Incognito took place before Martin left. Nevermind then... Then my original stance is reinvoked - the Dolphins front office and coaching staff is horrible and should be out of jobs.

Dolphin's GM Jeff Ireland told Martin's agent that Martin should stand up to Incognito and "punch him".

Did you read the transcript?  What part of "I'm going to make you eat poo" or "half-n*gger" or "i'm going to slap your real mother" do you not get?

Why would Martin walk away from a NFL contract and check into a hospital?  Just to get the public behind a cause?

Doesn't add up to me.

It sounds terrible but it's not like I haven't heard people say much worse things and not mean a thing by it.

No, I was saying if the Incognito stuff was made up after the fact, then checking into the hospital could strengthen Martin's case.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't victim blaming, I was just saying "what if?"

I've been behind Martin from the beginning, from what we know on the outside... I was just saying what if we've all been played?

But, then Happy Panther just mentioned Martin going to the GM before he ever left, so that pretty much sunk that battleship, lol.

So, now I go back to the otherside of the argument and think about how awkward and inept that Ireland AND Philbin looked on Hard Knocks last year. I really think they shouldn't have been in the positions they are in.

Yeah it's going to be bad for them I think. Like real bad. Like bounty-scandal type bad when Goodell gets finished with this.

Yeah, with what you guys just told me about Ireland before Martin left, now it appears they orchestrated the whole thing from the top by telling Incognito to toughen him up. Then, when Martin couldn't take it anymore, Ireland wants him to prove his toughness by "punching" another one of his players, lol. Then Martin leaves and Ireland and Philbin basically lie, say they knew nothing about it, and then apparently have instructed the team to follow suit and cover it up.

All I keep thinking about is how "soft" Philbin looked when he had to release Chad Johnson... these guys fooled a lot of people into giving them these jobs.

Also I've read multiple places that Incognito is really a dumb guy.  So the Dolphins FO tells Incognito to "toughen up" Martin and Incognito being the big dummy he is takes it too far.

Not good for anyone involved.

So, we go from labeling Martin in the beginning, to labeling Incognito, to now, not knowing what the heck to think.

Glad I did not go all in early on with this one.

I'm still not completely sure what to make of Martin, but I have never had any reason to waver about incognito.

I already knew he was a colossal douchebag long before this story came out. Nothing of what he's being accused of surprises me.

Who gives a poo if Martin is introverted? Who gives a poo if Martin and Incognito used to hang out? Bottom line is Incognito is a piece of poo for what he said and he deserves to be chastised for it. And any player siding with Incognito or blaming the victim Martin here can go to hell.

My latest theory:

Incognito and Martin were gay lovers. Incognito was harsh on him at times to keep up a facade. But then they had a spat and the voicemail became a way for Martin to get back at Richie.

Was that you who called into Rome today?

Hilarious, that was exactly what was speculated by a caller at one point. . Im assuming the dude was joking but he didnt sound like it.

    • When you analyze what Tulsky has done the only positive was getting Ehlers, he blew the Gentzel signing, whiffed on Rantanan, signed Miller who is a terrible fit, never addressed the goalie problem, signing a declining Freddie instead, and wasted a ton of cap space this year with inaction. My verdict is he might be great at analytics but sucks as a general manager.
    • If you think the refs we have are bad, you probably don't remember just how bad it got the last time they used replacement refs... including an incident of a Packers fan ref massively influencing a game. The NFL, when you consider all the other things tied to it like TV rights, betting, stadiums (construction, ticket prices, heck even parking and concessions), plus merchandizing, is probably a trillion dollar industry. Give the refs what they want, pay them and let's get back to having games.
    • Probably.  You never know.  It always amazes me to think how many times they miss on first rounders (about 50%) and the number of misses increases every round.  Then there are UDFAs that make the team every year.  I guess we are always looking for the next gem--but most never make it.  Funny, I was at dinner last night and there was this big guy with a WCU shirt on.  I recognized him--that OT from Western that we gave a tryout last year or the year before--Smith.  He explained his experience--just wanted to see how he could hold up against the big boys.  He played a preseason game and was terrible, fwiw.
