what 49er fans are saying

Lets please not compare a 2nd year player to a 7 year vet who is already a first ballot HOF'er. Give Luke more time to build his resume before making that claim lol.

Willis is a beast.  He isn't a first ballot HOFer though....

He needs to finish his resume before you can say that.  He hasn't put a HOF career in the books yet

Considering Luke almost shattered Patrick's tackle record (had he started since week one), was twice as good in coverage over Willis in his rookie campaign and singlehandedly turned our bottom feeder defense (with UDFA secondary and average DTs) into a Top 10 one... eh.

Twice as good in coverage when? Patrick Willis was the #1 rated cover ILB in the NFL last year. And Kuechly was not very good in coverage last year. Finished the year with a -1.8 grade and ranked as the 35th best cover ILB in the league.

Not sure where you are getting this information, but it's way off my man.

Willis hasn't done anything to make the Hall of Fame. He's made the playoffs twice? Get real.

Oh, you forgot to mention...

6× Pro Bowl (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012)

6× All-Pro (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012)

NFC champion (2012)

AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year (2007)

3× NFL Alumni Linebacker of the Year (2007, 2009, 2010)

And thats in only 6 years in the league.

Pwilly will make the HOF barring career ending injury.

That's debatable now. NFL.com, ESPN, PFF, etc have him ranked #1 overall. I mean, this is the guy who countered Ryan's, Brees' and Peyton's audibles as a rookie.

No they don't.

PFF has Kiko Alonzo as the #1 ranked cover ILB in the NFL right now, and Sean Lee as the best overal ILB. Willis is ranked 7th (and missed 2 1/2 games, so that ranking would be higher if he played) and Kuechly is ranked 16th.

Like I said he's a talented kid, but not on Willis level. Maybe in the future, but not right now.

Um, Willis isn't a MLB...Willis is an ILB.

Luke is the best MLB arguably in the NFL.  Ray Lewis who played both says MLB was tougher.

I meant ILB.

Ray Lewis can't even talk in complete sentences, and he also said Russell Wilson is the best young QB in the league because he has a great team.

Take what Ray Ray says with a grain of salt.

You do understand that in football there is an ILB (Inside Linebacker) that plays in a 3-4 defense, and a MLB (Middle or Mike Linbacker) thats plays in a 4-3. These for all intense and purposes are two very different positions. Willis is no longer an MLB since the switch to a 3-4 defense. Please know what your talking about before you try to discredit any player in the NFL.

I respect your love for your team however.

please beat them....beat them up....beat them down....just beat them.....and as a side bonus...if someone were to say run out of bounds accidentally and accidentally run into that loud mouth sack of crap of a coach on that niner sideline....I wouldn't be overly upset

Take care of business at home, beat the 9ers, and that is 10 wins. Another win over Mia, or Jets and we are the 5 seed and get to play the NFCE Champ. Cool.

    • I really appreciate Bill explaining his methodology here because that gives interested parties a chance to try and recreate the results themselves. I believe that it's safe to assume that despite emphasis being placed on WRs that Chuba Hubbard is one of the Panthers' top-5 weapons. Considering targets, yardage, receptions, etc... Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette are also on the list. Jalen Coker's success might have snuck him in there as well. I can't draw a conclusion on who #5 is though. I've narrowed it down to Diontae Johnson, David Moore, Ja'Tavion Sanders, and possibly Rico Dowdle if they're taking into account his production for the Cowboys in 2024.
    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
