Following a plea in February from ScreenCrush begging “Star Wars: Episode VII” filmmakers to cast actress Jennifer Lawrence in the lead role of young Han Solo, the 23-year-old star responded to the site’s speculative casting rumors at a press event this week. "I can't play a young Han Solo. That’s awful,” Lawrence told E! News at the premiere of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” in London Monday.

While the two-time “Hunger Games” star and recent Academy-Award winner denied she is in talks to star in the upcoming “Star Wars” film, she did admit her lifelong desire to play the opposite sex in a feature film. “[i’ve always] wanted to play a man,” said Lawrence, also stating that whoever wins the coveted role will “probably be male.”

According to ScreenCrush writer Britt Hayes, Lawrence has the right “witty and sarcastic swagger“ to satisfactorily fulfill the role of Han Solo. “When I think about all the male actors under 30 who are aged appropriately to play a young Han Solo, none of them seem right for the part,” said Hayes, adding, “There’s only one actor under 30 who I think could play Han Solo with the same je ne sais quois of Harrison Ford, and that’s Jennifer Lawrence.”

Maybe she has cut her hair for the role?

Not sure how an Oscar winner (twice nominated) is overated?  Probably the best actress right now.   But then again you didn't like The Wire did you?

She's probably the best actress in Hollywood right now.  I knew she was going to be a star after watching Winter's Bone years ago.  Silver Lining Playbook is one of the best movies of the last decade.  Not sure about her playing Han Solo but she is definitely not overrated.

    • I read that Pittsburgh is a possibility.  I think of college QB studs who had some form of mental quirk yet tons of talent--but their issue made being a team leader difficult and it led to their demise--going back:  Jamarcus Russell, Art Schlichter, Jeff George, etc. I think people forget that the QB must not only have talent, but they must lead.
    • I wish I knew more details, but the NIL money to 20-year olds combined with easy access to gambling sites is a side effect that these kids may not have considered.  To your point,A famous 2009 Sports Illustrated article titled “How (and Why) Athletes Go Broke” estimated that 78% of retired NFL players go bankrupt or face significant financial stress within two years of leaving the league.  I am guessing that ego and $$$ and the thrill of competition (most pro athletes love competition because they are the winners) makes it a powerful temptation.  Throw in the ease of gambling on your phone which is always in your hand, and I see your point x 10.
    • Freeling got some reps at RT when they gave Moton a rest day--I sorta hope Freeling gets brought along slowly as you describe.  It would be better for him for reasons you provide.  We have a really good problem.
